Kajal is a brand that I absolutely love. I've already bought 4 pieces this year, and I'm still waiting for the new "Äican | Kajal." The range is very exciting, especially if you enjoy fruity, well-crafted fragrances. I really like the execution, as these fruity notes come across as very elegant and not like every second drugstore/designer scent. This brand from France also incorporates some oriental vibes, which create a wonderful blend with the typical Western style. Anyone who enjoys this fruity style like Erba Pura should definitely try out some fragrances from this brand, including this Dahab.
Listed here as a women's fragrance, the Kajal scents are all quite unisex. At least most of them, as this unique style is quite individualistic and hard to categorize by gender. Particularly, this
Dahab and the
Almaz smell simply elegant, fruity, and well-groomed. The
Lamar is also very fruity and unique.
The perfumers are Chris Carbonnel and Rosendo Mateu from Spain. The former is also responsible for Xerjoff's Erba Pura, which pretty much everyone knows and is a prime example of fruity-sweet fragrances. There is a slight similarity here that cannot be denied, but Terenzi's Kirke could also be mentioned as a similar scent. These fruit-cocktail-musk fragrances are quite trendy these days. However, I find this Dahab to be somewhat more distinctive and the best with this DNA.
The packaging and bottle are top-notch. You get a small box that you can easily dispose of if you want. The bottle is a 10/10 for me with its large beautiful cap and the stunning bottle design. The sprayer also works flawlessly.
I stumbled upon this scent by chance: I bought the Almaz from the same brand, which included a sample of this fragrance. I was immediately hooked by this beautiful fruity DNA, which is simply well-made. For me, it is a better choice than the Erba Pura and the Kirke, also because this musk note is a bit more harmonious and not so overpowering.
The main players here are clearly green apple, passion fruit, and musk. From the very beginning, you get well-groomed fruity vibes from not too sweet apple and passion fruit. The slightly tart apple harmonizes perfectly with this exotic sweet passion fruit and is quite easy to like. In 2024, these types of scents may not be innovative anymore, but for me, it is absolutely one of the most pleasant fragrances in this category. As it develops, a bit of cedarwood joins in. Overall, it’s a scent that is not too complex yet still feels very elegant. The base with musk, patchouli, and amber is also very pleasant, especially since the musk note does not escalate. Spicy patchouli also contributes to a nice atmosphere. Overall, everything is very rounded and elegant, and anyone who likes this style should definitely test it. This exotic passion fruit is, of course, the star of this creation, and this scent can be worn for many occasions, seasons, and times of day.
The performance is top-notch. The sillage is not overwhelming but still very good. The longevity is around 10 hours, maybe a bit more. The sillage is very good for 4-5 hours, then becomes a bit closer to the skin.
Overall, a great scent that you should definitely try if you are looking for alternatives to Erba Pura/Kirke. For me, it is a feel-good fragrance that will likely be well-received by most people around you.
