Kajal is a brand that I absolutely love. i've already bought 4 of them this year, but I'm still waiting for the new
Äican. The range is very exciting, especially if you're into fruity, sophisticated fragrances. I really like the implementation, as these fruity notes just look really classy and not like every other drugstore/designer fragrance. This brand from France also uses some oriental vibes that create a great mix with the typical western style. If you like this fruity style a la Erba Pura, you should try out a few fragrances from this brand, including this Dahab.
Listed here as a women's fragrance, the Kajal fragrances are all quite unisex. At least most of them, as this uniquer style is quite unique and difficult to categorize by gender. This
Dahab and the
Almaz in particular smell simply sophisticated, fruity and well-groomed. The
Lamar is also very fruity and unique.
Incidentally, the perfumers are Chris Carbonnel and Rosendo Mateu from Spain. The former is also responsible for Xerjoff's Erba Pura, which pretty much everyone knows and is a prime example of fruity-sweet fragrances. There is no denying the slight similarity here, but Terenzi's Kirke could also be named as a similar fragrance. These fruit cocktail musk fragrances are quite popular these days. However, I think this Dahab is a little more independent and best with this DNA.
Packaging and bottle are great. You get a small box that you can simply dispose of if you want. The bottle is a 10/10 for me with that big pretty lid and the beautiful bottle design. The sprayer also works perfectly.
I came across this fragrance by chance: I bought the Almaz from the same brand, which included a sample of this fragrance. I was immediately hooked by this fruity, beautiful DNA, which is simply great. For me, as I said, it's a better choice than Erba Pura and Kirke, also because this musky note is a little more harmonious and not so penetrating.
The main players here are clearly green apple, passion fruit and musk. Right from the start, you get a neat fruity vibe of not-too-sweet apple and passion fruit. The slightly tart apple harmonizes totally with this exotic sweet passion fruit and is quite easy to like. In 2024, these types of fragrances are no longer innovative, but for me they are absolutely one of the most pleasant fragrances in this category. As the fragrance progresses, some cedar wood is added. On the whole, it is a fragrance that is not too complex and yet has a very elegant effect. The base is also very pleasant with musk patchouli and amber, especially as the musk note does not escalate. Spicy patchouli also creates a pleasant mood. Overall, everything is very round and sophisticated and anyone who likes this style should try it. This exotic passion fruit is of course the star of this creation and this fragrance can be worn on many occasions, seasons and times.
Performance is top. Sillage is not overwhelming, but still very good. Also the durability is close to 10 hours, maybe a little more. Sillage is very good for 4-5 hours, after that it is a little closer to the skin.
All in all, a great fragrance that you should definitely try if you are looking for alternatives to Erba Pura/Kirke. For me, it's a feel-good fragrance that will probably be well received by most people.
