Dreamlike, gentle drydown - opulent floral bouquet with headache risk beforehand
Wonderful, more beautiful in the drydown. Soft vanilla tonka bean and sandalwood, very light coconut note. Very warm and comforting. Close to the skin. Creamy. The individual notes are all perceptible, but never intrusive, either individually or as a whole.
Unfortunately, the first hour or two are exactly the opposite. Heavy, if not turgid, a bouquet in the truest sense of the word. But maybe it's more like the swamp from which the swamp lily comes?
Such a dense, heavy mishmash of the most diverse floral notes, it literally overwhelms you. Sometimes the warm drydown comes through slightly, then it's a dream for a brief moment. For a very brief moment, perhaps the almond. But then the heavy floral bouquet immediately returns, which dominates most of the time and in which hardly anything can be perceived individually. Sometimes slightly pungent, almost like a cleaning agent. Or like a fabric softener or laundry perfume. But one that has been on the bottom shelf of a small supermarket in an Italian mountain village for decades and has been forgotten. Not unpleasant, but an 'old fragrance' and incredibly concentrated.
The heavy mix of flowers also reminds me a little of the smell in the villa of an old, wealthy great-aunt, originally from Venice, who emigrated to the USA and married a film mogul there in the 1950s. Widowed long ago, she walks around the villa in Hollywood three times a day and tries to breathe life into the oversized, opulent bouquets of artificial flowers in enormous white amphorae with this fragrance. Unfortunately, it smells rather musty and heavy.
I get a headache after 5 minutes. I don't notice bergamot and ylang-ylang at all.
Depending on the amount sprayed on, the pleasant, soft, creamy vanilla and tonka bean remain after one or two hours and you want to smell them all the time.
This fragrance could have been turned into two great scents: a heavy, opulent floral bouquet for all those who like to indulge in 50s Hollywood chic with an Italian twist. And a beautiful, cozy, linear vanilla-tonka-sandalwood scent with a hint of almond and coconut. A dream - perfect for layering to achieve this scent.
