I don't care.

I had to put the spoiler in the title right away. (:

I bought "Grigioperla Essence" at a small souk trade, because I had it in my eye for quite some time and the seller made me such a nice offer. (: Probably the JPG Le Male-like striped pattern subliminally persuaded me that it must be good. ;D

When I tested it curiously in the morning, first Roja's Elysium pour Homme (Cologne) came into my mind, the blue-citric head note is a bit similar - which is nice! :)

When I was eagerly rushing through my apartment, a little tidying up and so on... I kept getting olfactory waves in my nose that reminded me of something... but of what? And then suddenly I came along. I had already read that somewhere else in the Interweb. :O

Well, the spoiler already told you... so by combining the woody-fresh base with pepper and salt in the head, the fragrance seems like a maritime, lighter version of Terre d'Hermes, especially in the drydown. Really authentic and beautiful, never unpleasant at any moment.

Can I really highly recommend it, I find this fragrance a skillful summer version of Terre, better than the "Eau Fraiche" version of them themselves, which I find a bit scratchy.

I wouldn't go so far as to claim they have intentionally cloned Terre, rather a child of chance..

Anyway, although I'm not a Terre fan per se, I find it really pleasant and refreshing for the summer. It reminds one I find really strong at the sea for some reason... maybe by the salt note and sea pine?

Really beautifully made, doesn't smell like a cheap copy, more like a real flanker of it, super authentic.

In this sense clear test recommendation, for Terre fans even blind buy recommendation! :)

A harmonious forest of smell

Imaging to be walking to the water's edge during an average fall day, a salty breeze from cypress and pine woods grazes your body like a soft caress. Ouch, I think I dozed off for a while.

Hi all, you divine smelling people. I think I have written many reviews by now, and I hope you're enjoying reading them as much as I am enjoying writing them. Today's fragrance is one that I discovered quite by accident, a blind buy I asked to a friend of mine in 2009, but I have fallen mightily in love with it. That's is why I recently bought a replacement, and I got my pennyworth at that price.

Grigioperla Essence is essentially a balsamic cologne, with a bunch of woody note from the shelter. I love woody scents, and this was precisely why I bought this one wholly and blindly unsmelled. I've just blasted quite a few sprays onto my forearm to get a good whiff of it going, and I love that super cypress and pepper opening. It wakes me up and makes me feel so good. Like the day ahead is one with which I can do anything.

Grigioperla Essence settles quickly into the lavender and jasmine – they mildly dance together while running down the side of a fresh meadow. The magnolia takes a little longer to get there, but when it does, it joins the flowers to add a sense of manhood that it would otherwise lack. I think the combination is delicious. Strange enough, on the paper, this central stage smells like a "Big Buble" bubble gum, whereas on my skin is all about floral and balsamic.

The final phase brings together the last of the woody notes, and for me, it's where this perfume shines. There's not one ingredient that takes center stage here, but they all work together to create a harmonious forest of smell that I find incredibly exciting. They aren't massive but exude a freshness and crispness, much like a crisp autumn morning on a wooded track. I happen to love it.

The sillage is a pitfall, it does fade quite quickly and is mainly non-existent around 4-5 hours, yet you get it if you smell close your skin. I like to think that my skin loves it as much as my nose and gobbles it right up, hungry for more. It seems it's not stocked widely these days, which is a shame, because this is very wearable and enjoyable.
It gracefully works well on both business and leisure time, better if worn during the day and evening, throughout the whole fall.

If you are anything like me, you will love it.

Stylishly pedantic

Grigioperla Essence is a really decent product bringing back the “sharp & synthetic woody-peppery-herbal freshness” to the price range it best belongs to. Given many other brands do this same stuff at higher prices and/or with more undeserved praise, I guess it may be considered a mild winner. It’s basically Terre d’Hermès rewritten with less citrus and a bit more soapy-lavendery musk, something green (pine), and also a more vivid whiff of smoky vetiver. Halfway that, Encre Noire, half of Comme des Garçons offerings (all their variations on incense and woods), and a Neutro Roberts man deodorant. The “Freshly Hired Accounting Intern Manifesto”, shortly, but it doesn’t smell bad: on the contrary it actually smells really pleasant, clean, affably refined, surprisingly not that cheap yet a bit boring and quite desperately “nondescript” like a stock picture of a meeting room. Although hiring Bourdon for something this pedantic is a bit like having Frank Gehry renovating your cat’s litter box , Essence is ultimately a fine, versatile, fairly-priced product which would make a great gift for non-fragrance fans looking for a signature office scent.

Fresh, clean, green and woodsy.

Quite honestly, prior to this fragrance, I'd never heard of LaPerla and this was a bit of a surprise - I didn't expect it to be so good.

This is a very versatile fragrance that can be worn anywhere at any time, This is, without question, a "safe" office scent.

It's very fresh, clean, green and woodsy.

The lavender and magnolia combine very well to bring out that fresh, somewhat out-of-the-shower clean smell; although I smell virtually no individual flowery scent, as you might expect with a magnolia combination.

The green portion of the fragrance is evident, although not to the degree of an air freshener or candle. It's tempered with the oakmoss to bring out a the nice, more moderate composition. I smell no cedar or vetiver.

Sillage and longevity are moderate on my skin. It projects about 6 inches away and while I get 6-8 hours of it, others expresses excellent sillage and longevity. Apparently, it varies by individual.

All in all, if you can find a bottle for a reasonable price, it's hard to go wrong with it. It's been discontinued and I recently saw a listing on Ebay with someone asking $189 for a bottle of it.
