Sweet Rose La Rive

Right from the bottle, I smell this fragrance: Nivea cream mixed with a delicious fruity note. I don't know where this strong association with Nivea comes from, but I can clearly smell it, and combined with the fruits and flowers, it creates a really delightful scent. I have never tested Amor Amor before; I definitely need to try it for comparison.

I really like rose scents, and due to the positive reviews, the bottle arrived at my place in the fall. It wasn't my thing from the start. But rose and fall, I thought I’d wait a bit longer. Unfortunately, the second test didn’t turn out to be impressive either. The scent starts off slightly with grapefruit and mandarin. But poof, those scents are gone, and now it goes all out. An indefinable, penetrating, artificial mixture of all possible scents overwhelms you. There’s no trace of rose. After this chemical explosion à la Bayer Lab, amber, musk, and vanilla come crashing in. With the floral scents or whatever they are supposed to be, cheap and intrusive. After a while, vanilla dominates. But by no means the natural vanilla, rather overwhelming and synthetic. Otherwise, I find La Rive's scents very successful. Whether a dupe or an independent fragrance. However, this scent is, in my opinion, totally disharmonious and unsuccessful. Longevity is unfortunately 7-8 hours for me and very hard to remove. The bottle is simple and functional.

For all Amour Amour lovers, this is a budget-friendly hidden gem. I am truly impressed. I'm slowly getting the feeling that no matter what fragrance you prefer, La Rive has an affordable alternative. Of course, this scent from Cacharel isn't so outrageously expensive that you would feel compelled to have it as a copy. But, aside from that, Sweet Rose is really a delightful little fragrance, absolutely fine. It is not subtle, rather dominant. The fruity notes initially overwhelm you as if you had stuck your head in a bowl of freshly pureed fruit. In the background, you can perceive the rose. However, the fruit bomb quickly cools down and harmonizes with the base note into a very balanced scent. Really well done. It then maintains this state for many hours. The sillage is very good. The bottle, like many dupes, is rather unremarkable. But that's usually not what these fragrances are about. The content is genuinely fine, and it's worth testing it out since it also comes in a 30ml version.
