Heroic Man La Rive

Good SWY dupe, yet less boozy, and of course less longevity.

I think La Rive did great on this one, smells way better that its price, warm, cozy, amazing to spray on sweaters on winter, I tried this one form fall to now, and it's been a pleasant surprise, Longevity is as expected from a product on this price range, but amazing results when sprayed on clothes, as I said, when sprayed on a sweater or on a scarf, this will last for a good while.

Just beware, don't overspray otherwise it can become a little cloying or loud.

Great for winter afternoons/nights.

Klassischer Fall von viel Duft für wenig Geld .Heroic Man erinnert mich sofort an Invictus von Paco Rabanne , diese süß-fruchtige Frische in der Kopfnote ist fast identisch. Es geht direkt los mit etwas Zitrus, leicht aquatisch, dazu ein süßlicher Unterton, der sofort ins Auge bzw in die Nase sticht.

Im Verlauf wird der Duft etwas wärmer, holzig, bleibt aber insgesamt sehr jung und sportlich. Ein typischer Club-Duft laut, auffällig, modern – aber auch etwas synthetisch, was man in dieser Preisklasse halt merkt.

Recently, I was wandering around the small perfumery in my little town as usual. As always, I tested perfumes that I had never tried before, focusing on cheapies since I already know the expensive ones. One brand caught my eye, La Rive. I tested all the dupes they had, and one I liked very much… so sweet, so strong, so cozy. My first thought was, wow, this scent feels very familiar, and indeed, it was one of the Stronger with You line. I couldn't decide which one it was, either the Original or the Intensely, so I went to the Armani section to test it. The result: a bit sweeter and more cotton candy-like than the Original, but less sweet than the Intensely, yet just as good as both. It’s simply the perfect blend of the two, but if I’m honest, it resembles the Original more.
The sillage is really good, it does its job, and the price-performance ratio is good with La Rive anyway, no need to discuss that. The only thing one might complain about is the longevity, as the scent is close to the skin after 3 hours. In the meantime, however, it has perfect performance, and if you’re not a fragrance expert, you won’t figure out that it’s a dupe of SWY. So always reapply, but please don’t overspray, as it is a very strong perfume :-)

My bottle of Heroic Man has really surprised me positively, as I find the scent truly successful. It becomes clear quite quickly that they aimed for a direction similar to "Stronger with You." However, my female colleague asked me why so many young men want to smell so sweet these days, as she finds it not very masculine. The longevity on my skin is absolutely fine with 7 to 8 hours in this price category, and the sillage, especially at the beginning, is not disappointing.

I don't really recognize the top note indicated in the fragrance pyramid. It starts off very sweet and gourmand with a lot of caramel and rock candy. There is also a subtly alcoholic synthetic note present. The heart note remains sweet thanks to toffee, but also takes on an oriental-spicy character with aromas of cinnamon, nutmeg, chestnuts, gingerbread, and allspice. The base continues with a dessert-like sweetness and is caressed by vaguely defined woody undertones.

I believe that with "Heroic Man | La Rive," I have now found a fragrance from La Rive that I truly consider to be really good and that I have little to criticize. Therefore, the bottle is very welcome to stay with me for everyday use.

During a record-long shopping trip at DM with my girlfriend, boredom eventually set in and I wandered aimlessly through the store. At some point, my eagle eye spotted the perfume shelf packed with kitschy bottles.

My eyes searched through this mass of overwhelming colorful scent dispensers for a piece of familiarity. I found it in the form of the usual suspects from La Rive.

But wait. "Heroic Man, what could that be?"
I quickly consulted the almighty Google and my initial intuition was confirmed that it might be a dupe for Armani Stronger With You.

No tester available, but what the heck. I can handle the loss of €5.95 in case of a bad purchase. So I grabbed it and took it home. Especially since a much more expensive mistake in the form of The One EDP had already made my heart bleed with disappointment that same weekend. It couldn't get any worse.

My girlfriend's head-shaking reaction when I placed the scent on the conveyor belt at the checkout was along the lines of: "Are you going to burn more money?".

My first thought right after spraying: This seems familiar.
It reminds me a bit of Versace Eros (of which I'm not a big fan).

After about 30 minutes, a quite rounded scent profile develops (for the price), which initially smells very fruity and then later slightly vanillic. The more the scent dries down, the more pleasant it becomes. I personally only detect wood notes very subtly here.

I was actually extremely surprised that the sillage was so strong after 2 sprays that as I walked past my girlfriend, I heard a horrified "IS THIS THAT CHEAP PERFUME YOU JUST BOUGHT???... It smells amazing!!"

Seems to have potential. The next day I tried it as a daily scent and tested 5-6 sprays. To be honest, I have to say I was more than surprised by the longevity. On my skin, it was still clearly detectable after 8-9 hours. On my clothes, even the next day, a good 24 hours later.

In terms of scent DNA, it's nothing I could wear daily. But for inconsequential days in the home office, errands in the city, or similar, it's perfect if you don't want to waste your favorite scents.

How close the scent comes to the SWY (or certain flankers) from Armani, I cannot judge. If it comes close, I would never spend the money on the Armani because I find the scent good, but not outstanding.

But as it is, it's really a nobrainer if you're looking for an autumn/winter perfume and want to take a blind buy plunge.
