Opulent, but not for me
It's very interesting how different the reviews around the web are for this scent. I'm definitely among those who don't find this all that similar to Alien or any of its flankers.
Opulent Red starts out with a gorgeous, lively mix of blood orange, pear, jasmine, tuberose and warm spices. A touch of vanilla and unlisted cinnamon. The fruits are beautifully done, so juicy and smooth, a bit bubblegummy too, but not cloying. At this point I can kind of understand why some see parallels to the Aliens, even though I would never categorize this as a dupe.
But then Opulent Red turns quite different on me. The oud is noticeable in the background from the start, and it's a leathery and animalic version. As long as the fruit and florals are present enough to tame it, I don't mind it, but after the drydown it starts to get on my nerves. The whole scent turns very woodsy and dirty on me and gets sharper by the hour, which is really not my taste at all. The sweet notes are still floating around somewhere in the background, but the oud really dominates them. It's not completely barnyardy or gross, but very funky.
On the plus side, I think this is a very intense, opulent perfume, like the name promises. If I had tested it blindly, I would have thought this was from a modern niche house and 10 times more expensive than it is.
I wouldn't want to smell like this, but it's not a bad perfume by any means.
