Cheap freshness
I’ve tried hard to be patient and wait the obnoxious opening to change into something more agreeable, but I really can’t. I mean, I did, but just for your information – it is not really worth it. I don’t believe that much in “skin chemistry” variations but I guess I should start to, because unlike other reviewers experienced, the first minutes of Agua de Loewe are hideous on me. A painful journey through a horrific harsh accord of heavily pungent and synthetic citrus notes, something oddly spicy-nutty, something musky-watery-stale and a really unpleasant whiff of orange, vanilla and maybe sandalwood, adding a hint of nauseous aromatic warmth to that screechy mess. These latter notes would be even nice themselves, but it’s like smelling a slice of pie while you are in the middle of a stomach flu. Loud, plastic – “wrong”, shortly. And bloody haunting like your own shadow. Then, after a while it naturally starts to tone down a bit, entering a more enjoyable phase in which it still smells cheap, but at least it does it more smoothly and discreetly. Also, it smells progressively less citrusy and more woody-herbal-tea still with a whiff of orange and musk, and a general “fresh” feel. A bit more decent, still kind of loud and a bit cheap, however unworthy the first nightmare phase for me. Don’t bother.

Good choice for summer
Good citric floral. Remembers me of CK One.

Lots of yuzu and a nice tea note in the opening, but i swear i can also detect some light florals.

Perfect for a summer day or night, also to stay home and feel relaxed using it.

Good price that makes it worth it. Nothing new or unique. Unissex.

Sillage, projection and lasting power are average.

If "getting older and having to begrudgingly make better life choices" had a scent
The first few minutes are all about bergamot oil and yuzu. Weirdly clinical and artificial, but I tested it on both myself and my partner and in both instances it took less than ~20 minutes for the perfume to settle down and mellow out.

Good news is that past the initial stage this scent becomes pretty soft and settles in the wearer's immediate vicinity (an arm's length in an enclosed space, give or take). Bad news is that it loses bergamot and yuzu. Well, bad news for me, since I was looking forward to those. What's left is the puffy white part of the lemon rind in the outer cloud above; and musk and freshly cut hay below. I can also feel a bit of black tea on the sidelines, but it's pretty weak, as if it's just starting to brew.

Lemon rind and musk are two main notes that govern this composition from start to finish. Based on my experience, their strength seems to depend on skin chemistry. On my partner it was a fair bit creamier and very cute, on me – first and foremost lemony. Not bad, but after getting to smell the musky version, I couldn't help but feel envious. I wanted to smell like that :(

As I was going about my day, I kept thinking back to Blenheim Bouquet Eau de Toilette and feeling oddly melancholic about it. Musk, lemon, plenty of hay and weak tea... Agua de Loewe smelled good! Bright, soft, healthy. But something was missing. I was craving a cig.

Blenheim Bouquet felt like a gentleman's club – well kept and clean, sure, but with a note of decadent relaxation to it. Agua de Loewe, on the other hand, feels like I'm an older gentleman whose doctor told him to quit smoking and drinking. And sure, I did. And now I do feel physically healthier and have more energy, but what am I meant to do with it? What's the point of living this long healthy life without the spark of joy and community that my old gentleman's club brought to it? A scent of quiet contemplation and melancholy. Well, that and citrus.

It took ~1,5 hours to completely settle on skin, and ~3,5 more to dry down to the base – yup, still lemon rind and musk, you guessed it. It paints an interesting picture that I'm happy to own as a part of my wider Loewe collection, but to someone else looking for an interesting musk and citrus perfume to try out, I'd easily recommend Blenheim Bouquet Eau de Toilette over it.

Birthday Scent
Today my little lady dog turns one year old, and she proudly wears her birthday ribbon for the first time.

For me, it's a reason to spray on a new fragrance in her honor.

I choose Agua de Loewe - a brand that I greatly appreciate.

A good choice, as the scent is very calm and relaxing despite its freshness.
Bergamot, yuzu, and mandarin are fruity - zesty - yet the rosewood carries noble serenity.
The heart note is clear and gentle, and even the pepper only makes a soft appearance.
The wood spreads mildness and the sandalwood adds creaminess.

I am very taken with the soothing character of Agua, which also creates a clear mind.

The cover proclaims: Timeless and universal freshness - and every word is true.

Moreover, it's an excellent unisex fragrance that will suit both genders well.

The little birthday girl sniffs curiously at me, cuddles up to me, and takes a nap.

A good sign, as the little one has taste.

More Cream than Water
Today I can carve another notch for first comments into my desk... This time for "Agua de Loewe".

It starts with a lot of citrus-fresh bergamot and yuzu. Mandarin adds a lovely, fully ripe fruitiness. And then there’s a subtle rose note that becomes stronger and soapier over time. I just can't deal with the queen of flowers in men's fragrances; this particular scent note is often just too pronounced for me. Fortunately, here it holds back, so I’m not immediately put off...
The heart note, on the other hand, is a dream. A soft, creamy-ambery teen note with subtle peppery sprinkles and remnants of bergamot waft around my nose. The heart note corresponds almost 1:1 to the scent "Concerto" by Fragonard for my nose. I really like it a lot, despite a certain lack of character.
The longevity of "Agua de Loewe" is in the upper mid-range; after about five to six hours, the warm-woody, slightly animalistic base is reached. A hint of cream from the heart occasionally resonates. Very nice!

I’ve already had several Loewe fragrances under my nose. "Agua de Loewe" definitely ranks among the better ones. I’m offered a truly beautifully rounded fragrance here. Unfortunately, it has too little contour, too little profile, and too much rose at the beginning to go beyond mere liking.

Delightfully fresh, cheerful Yuzu, becoming a bit softer over time. A lively feel-good scent without the usual plastic musk. Great!

The better and more natural CK One. My favorite in the height of summer, for her and him. Refreshing and not sweet.

For me, it's a great summer scent - light, citrusy, with tea and musk rounding it off. Subtle.

Tea and lemon, fresh in a retro way. Light spicy note.

Smells like a high-quality cream, but this Loewe is definitely meant for the female gender!

Light and elegant like Bulgari's "Eau Parfumée au Thé Vert", refreshing and zesty like "cK one", all at a fair price.
