Chameleon .. A Strange Fragrance Journey..
The opening is creepy to my nose and makes me want to run away.. Burning, sharp, and reminds me of an old-fashioned EDT for men. I can hardly distinguish the notes, as if it’s just a wrong mix of spicy burning notes that do not harmonize at all. Fortunately, this quite unbearable opening disappears very quickly, and the fragrance slowly becomes softer and more pleasant..
In the drydown, narcissus clearly plays the main role for a while and leaves little to no space for the other floral notes. Unfortunately, I can’t smell tuberose at all. I can only faintly sense ylang ylang. What a shame.. Unfortunately, labdanum becomes more and more prominent and quickly gives the fragrance a very spicy masculine character that lasts for a while. I have to get through this spicy and sharp narcissus/labdanum phase before I can even begin to warm up to this scent.. Over the course of the drydown, the fragrance becomes softer and more pleasant.. A very mature velvety red rose can be smelled in the background, which is really well done. This rose, when you focus clearly on it, goes in the same direction as the rose in Love don’t be shy extreme. However, the two fragrances have nothing to do with each other, just to clarify, but the mature rose is similarly crafted… Somehow, I have a problem with this spicy rose in Alamut. It just doesn’t fit for me.. Nevertheless, this mature rose saves the fragrance a bit for me..
In the base, you can clearly smell a very, very pleasant sandalwood note that really smells great.. The fragrance remains spicy until the end but becomes increasingly rosy/soft and is wonderfully supported by the super beautiful sandalwood… I envision a small light wooden box that holds a very mature velvety dark red rose inside… This combination of light wood and a very mature rose best describes the fragrance in the drydown..
In summary, the fragrance in the drydown is absolutely not bad but is not for me at all. A spicy scent that, for me as a woman, is not feminine and floral enough, although the notes promise something different.. The fragrance has a great scent evolution and changes extremely through the individual fragrance phases.. From burning and almost unbearable to soft/rosy/woody..
A unisex fragrance that is personally too spicy and complex for me, in a strange way…
