Like Nuits de Noho but with fewer flowers?
We've gotten to the point where it is no longer meaningful to refer directly all the way back to Thierry Mugler ANGEL for every single post-ANGEL sweet patchouli perfume. No, many of these perfumes, including MON PARFUM by Micallef, are much closer to some of the by now fairly well-known so-called knock-offs or clones of the Dark Angel. A couple of days back, I was pointing out that another perfume often compared to ANGEL was really much closer to Molinard NIRMALA. Today, over the course of the day I realized that MON PARFUM is closer to NUITS DE NOHO by Bond no 9 than it is to ANGEL. Why?

Both NUITS DE NOHO and MON PARFUM have edited out--or rather never included--the purple gooey over-the-top opening of ANGEL. They both smell much more natural and of much high-quality materials. But NUITS DE NOHO has much more white floral activity going on. MON PARFUM is closer to the slightly doughy caramelized patchouli drydown of ANGEL. So why do I think that MON PARFUM is closer to NUITS DE NOHO than to ANGEL? Because it is actually pleasant to wear!

I do have to wonder why this perfume was launched. I was expecting something really new and distinct coming under the title MON PARFUM. I understand (I think) the story, that this perfume was in fact created much earlier than 2009, but it could easily be lost in the post-ANGEL tsunami. To be honest, I'm a bit surprised at how favorable the reviews and ratings of this perfume have been, all things considered...

caramel and patchouli in perfect symmetry
A perfect caramel and patchouli combination for me. Caramel plays tricks with my skin, like in TOF Alien, although the initial hit of burnt sugar is wonderful, alas it becomes totally synthetic/artificial on me. This was definitely, thankfully not the case with Mon Parfum. For me, I look at it as Pink Sugar Sensual all grown up. Missing the overkill pink and silliness of teenage hood/early twenties and evolving into an elegant, composed woman with a history of pink and silliness, who still enjoys her candy, albeit in more refined and subdued ways. The patchouli here definitely doesn't cry headshop, far from it. Once again there were probably headshop visits in her history but now the only musk and patchouli in her life come from perfume and other delicately fragranted offerings. Sillage is polite and won't cause the others in a crowded space to gag and pass out, but it definitely spells its presence well. Longevity is acceptable for me, more than five hours and still going strong. I am very grateful to finally test this beauty from a generous sample passed on from a wonder member here. I have managed to convince myself that despite the overwhelming sugared scents and patchouli scents I already own, this one is special and deserves a place in my home.

Charm
She is feminine

She is 18, 35, 50, or even 80.

She wears the little black dress or jeans and a sweater, bright colors or gray, high heels, ballet flats, or hiking boots.

She is not necessarily beautiful, perhaps not even pretty. But she doesn’t have to be, because she possesses something that is hard to learn and cannot be bought. Charisma and charm.

When she enters a room, you see her, you turn towards her, and you feel drawn in by her enchanting smile. A genuine, honest smile that says: “I love life. I love people. I am happy to be here.”

Her scent does not precede her, but it envelops her, and she allows for friendly closeness. Her fragrance is like her, cheerful, optimistic, and very charming.

When she leaves the room, her joy for life remains behind along with a delicate hint of “Mon Parfum.”

Musk and Patchouli
Here some say it has a great resemblance to Angel. Okay, I’ll leave it at that. A similarity is initially undeniable.
For me, Mon Parfum smells very delicious at first with patchouli, citrus fruits, and passion fruit. But the sillage is already strongly musky. I don’t detect this musk in Angel, and it becomes increasingly prominent in Mon Parfum over time.
The patchouli becomes stronger and more noticeable the closer you get with your nose. The surrounding atmosphere smells wonderful of warm musk.
It is a fine, noble scent that is not too loud. Rather subtle and elegant.
Mon Parfum is initially invigorating due to the fruits and then becomes very cozy and warm. Just right for the dreary autumn and early winter.
I have no problems wearing it in the winter at the office. But I would still recommend it for the evening and late afternoon.
The scent is very feminine. I have wondered what kind of person Martine Micallef might be if she designed this fragrance for herself. And I conclude that she must be a pleasant, unobtrusive person, that she has a strong sense of family and loves perfumes very much. She is certainly never too loud or too shrill. No, she is a wonderful person. Definitely...

When you know the unique fragrances of the house and also the beautiful, individually designed bottles, it quickly becomes clear that she loves perfumes. This bottle also sits on a lovingly designed satin bed, in a high-quality, cream-white box. I like the glitter stones. Here they are not overdone.
If I had the opportunity to personally thank her for her fragrances and bottles, I would love to do so.
M. Micallef has greatly enriched my collection so far. And it certainly won’t be the last fragrance from the brand for me.

The longevity is about 7 hours on average. But the dry down is wonderful. A hint of musk and patchouli.

Multivitamin Cocktail
This fragrance is said to have been created by Martine Micallef for herself, which honestly surprises me somewhat. I wouldn't have expected this petite woman to wear such a loud scent. Mon Parfum is a powerhouse, no doubt about it! It has a sillage that leaves me breathless.

But let's take it step by step: In the opening, it comes across as very fruity-citrusy-fresh, even the orange blossom, very sweet and intense, is clearly present.
Once the freshness settles, it becomes purely fruity. Bright and loud and juicy fruity, the vanilla only plays a role as a softener, while vetiver enhances the fruit note rather than "greening" it. At the same time, something chocolatey or better yet caramel-like comes into play. It's almost like passion fruit sorbet with caramel sauce.

However, it is still not edible, as musk gives it a noticeable animalic note and patchouli adds a dark, deep, and warm touch.

At times, especially in the opening, Mon Parfum reminds me of my Galeries Lafayette Berlin pour Femme by Micallef, but really only in a vague sense. I assume it's the unmistakable Micallef signature that I perceive here.

Mon Parfum is beautiful, but definitely too loud for me. I prefer gourmands to be a bit quieter and cozier.

Angel? Never! Not even close. Fruity, smoky, and unique. Distinctive. Angel... Ha... You’ve got to be kidding me.

Sour-fruity-fresh citrus with passion fruit brings summer vibes. Then lots of sugary vanilla + sweet blossom. That's too sticky for me.

The ENGLEIN is unknown to me,
but it charmingly reminds me -
of Suave Petals and For Her;
it comes across soft-heavy, sweet.

Fruity, lightly spicy, and patchouli. The passion fruit and orange blossom are prominent, with a slightly sweet-bitter note - reminds me of Angel.

Opulent gourmand from the vanilla sugar fruit class. The patch at the end helps a bit out of the jam. Too sweet for me. Even as a dessert ;-)

Very feminine, soft, incredibly beautiful scent, fruity-melting, sweet without being sticky or girly. It has something truly special.

A lovely blend of Angel (Mugler) and For Her (Narciso R.). Feels sensual and is well-crafted - but it’s still not for me.
