A family-run perfumery for generations, residing in a Gustave Eiffel-designed manufacturing building in Grasse since 1900, Molinard was founded in 1849 and has a long and rich tradition.
Initially specializing in light perfumed waters and colognes, Molinard first developed perfumes in 1860 (a range of soliflors: rose, jasmine, violet, mimosa) and sold them in fine Baccarat crystal flacons from 1891.
In 1921, the famous "Habanita" was developed - initially for scenting cigarettes. Then, in 1924, it was called a perfume for scenting women's skin (perhaps inspired by the success that Caron's "Tabac Blond" had as a perfume for women smokers?). To this day, this groundbreaking classic remains a popular perfume and one of the pillars on which the house's success is built.
In 1930 (for "Iles d'Or" and "Madrigal '') and 1932 (for "Le Baiser du Faune"), René Lalique created flacons for Molinard. The tradition of glass artwork continued in the 1930s with more Baccarat flacons.
Molinard continues the success story to the present day. Not prominent noses or innovations in chemical production mark the milestones, but reflection on solid Grasse craftsmanship and trust in the Molinard team - which does not seek publicity.
A perfume was released in 2009 to mark the 160th anniversary: sparkling rhinestones on a noble design flacon write the name: "160".
