Challenge in Advent: On the Way to "My" Vanilla Scent - December 17, 2019

In front of me stands a sweet, small, deep violet bottle of "Vanilla" by Molinard. It really looks cute. I spray it a few times. Immediately, a very gentle and sweet vanilla scent unfolds, which feels truly natural. More than this deliciously sweet vanilla, I don't smell anything else; only after a long time does a non-sweet, slightly creamy note emerge - if this is supposed to be the benzoin indicated in the pyramid, then it must be the one from Sumatra, known for its powdery-creamy scent. However, this note is not balsamic-sweet, rather it has a minimal herbal scent or is slightly soapy, but also dry. It's very difficult to describe, as this late-emerging note is really very delicate. Otherwise, nothing develops; the vanilla remains present in a sweet, but also dry, by no means overly sweet, rather restrained, naturally appearing form for a long time and delights me all day - the sillage is rather weak, but when I accidentally turn my head in the right direction, I catch a whiff of the fine scent. "Vanilla" by Molinard is thus a solid and moreover wonderful, fine everyday vanilla scent - affordable, not too intrusive, while fulfilling its main task of smelling like vanilla in a very pleasant way. I am happy that the little bottle has now come to me thanks to a dear perfume swap. I will save it for autumn, as the scent is not too heavy. I think it fits well into the autumn stage when it slowly gets cooler.

Feel-Good Fragrance

A wonderfully delicate, fine, airy, and very delicious vanilla scent. Sugary vanilla, but not sweet. That sounds like a contradiction, but it is true. It is by no means intrusive (or cheap in any way), nor does it fill the room; rather the opposite. It is close to the skin and a little shy, but so beautiful!

And here it is truly pure vanilla. The scent does not change over time - except that it unfortunately becomes relatively weaker more quickly than at the beginning. On clothing/fabric, however, it is noticeably perceptible for much longer than on (my) skin.
Definitely wearable in the workplace and every day if you like vanilla and just want to feel good, but don’t necessarily need to share it with your surroundings.

I am a bit torn about the bottle. The shape appeals to me, unembellished and simple, but really elegant. Thick glass, the cap is metal and heavy, no cheap plastic. However, the color is, well, a bit of an acquired taste for me, a strong violet. This color does not really reflect the content for me.

But this does not diminish my appreciation and sympathy - an absolute feel-good fragrance for me!

Not MY Vanilla

I have been searching for THE perfect vanilla scent for ages. Kayali Vanilla 28 is pretty damn close, but you know how it is - as a junkie, you're always on the hunt, like a little truffle pig.
Well then... after much back and forth, I finally decided to order this one, as I've read and heard from many that it smells like baking vanilla. However, I've heard this about several scents before, and so far it has never been true. Either so many people have a different understanding of baking vanilla, or the perfumes actually smell different to everyone. It's frustrating.
This scent does indeed smell like vanilla, but for me - like many other scents - it has a musty, stale vanilla scent. It's sweet, but somehow moldy. I've smelled this exact scent several times in other perfumes. When I think of baking vanilla, I imagine a sweet, bright, edible vanilla.
What a shame, the search continues.

Pure Love

Eternally enduring orchid goddess.
Seductive, noble, mysterious. Warmly enveloping and simultaneously unattainable on a violet glass throne of a temple.
On my skin, it starts with a slightly floral feminine sweetness. Then comes a velvety, almost narcotic vanilla.
The slight spiciness makes it not playful like butter cookies, but rather like an exotic, expensive delicacy.
I don’t really get edible vibes either.
It is so straightforward and calmly intensely present.

The bottle is stylistically a dream, just the right sillage and good longevity.
For me, an absolute must-have.

Christmas Sends Its Regards

Vanilla crescents with cream. I can't describe the scent any other way. Simply delicious when the craving for something sweet hits. With one advantage, in this case you can indulge without having to worry about pesky love handles.
The downside, however, is that it is hardly noticeable on me and dissipates quickly.
