First impression, surprised!
I'm really loving this on first wear. To preface, this scent profile is right up my alley so in theory I was going to like this, but I'm very pleasantly surprised by this one!

To my nose it's like if Tabu by Dana and Tank Battle by lush had a baby, which is perfect because those are two of my favorite perfumes of all time. It really really reminds me of both of them.

I'll see how I feel as I continue to wear this, but so far I'm a huge fan.

Best niche woody oriental in its price bracket
Molinard Musc is a perfume I gifted to myself for my birthday in 2019. It was also my first touch with the great and old house of Molinard from Grasse, France.

What attracted me the most about Musc was the affordability of the brand and interesting notes that seemed like they would be right in my alley.

Here are my 5 quick takes:

- The best affordable woody oriental niche perfume on the market
- A complex and rich composition with a sublime performance
- Created in 2015 as a part of Matieres Les Elements collection
- Recommended for leisure use during the colder months
- Fragrance enthusiasts will love it but could be challenging for casual wearers. Harsh top and middle notes

I liked and enjoyed Molinard Musc. It offers something else for perfume connoisseurs, and you owe yourself to at least sample it out.

The True Journey to India
Lured by the promising name and the high rating on Parfumo, I purchased Voyage en Inde by Rituals some time ago and was bitterly disappointed, as the scent held nothing Indian, Oriental, Exotic, or Spicy that I had hoped and expected from it.
(Serves me right, blind purchase risk; it quickly found a new owner.)

When I then read in the comments about Musc from incense sticks, hippies, and Indian shops, all previous experiences were forgotten, and it was ordered, even though the name suggested a completely different fragrance direction.
And this time, the blind purchase hit the mark.

I am greeted by a dense, complex note that indeed smells like the occasionally visited third-world shop and also contains a hint of sticky cough syrup that I was often given in my childhood and have forever stored in my scent memory.
The cough syrup association fades over time, while the incense stick aroma gains weight.
Musc is spicy, balsamic, only slightly sweet, subtly smoky, and once the rather intense top note has faded a bit, it is quite socially acceptable.

Bollywood and hippie commune balance each other out here, and in spirit, I slip on the silky Crinclerock that I haven't worn in ages, put on my beloved flip-flops, and stroll through the palm-lined streets of Arambol.
This is it, the olfactory journey to India!

By the way, I don't find any musk here, not even in the base, which is infused with a fine spiciness until the end.

At this point, a big thank you once again to you Parfumos, who described this scent so aptly in your statements and made me aware of it.

On the left, the head shop
on the right, the Esos
Next to them, a hippie counts his pesos
Everyone's annoyed
No store scent
So classy, like INCENSE STICKS

Festivals, tea shops, joints and love in the park, barefoot, Frank Zappa, flower dresses.
I only wear it at home, I'm not a professional teenager.

Sweet musk-patchouli scent
that reminds me of "L'Air de Rien" ...
just not as earthy.
You're right about the hippie shops too :)

When I first tested it, I immediately thought of vanilla patchouli... but it's not that intense after all. It really has a vibe of incense sticks.

A complex earthy-sweet-resinous-balsamic scent like from the 70s. A fine little hippie vibe with more than meets the eye. Good always triumphs!

THE incense stick scent par excellence. Anyone wanting to know how it smelled in the '70s in "the scene" should give it a try.

Hey, I know that store! It smells like my favorite Indian shop - dark, earthy patch, woody, sweet, heavy-floral, luscious, voluminous.
