Me too in....... Patchouli Jungle
Amber-colored light is promised by the name!
The light is strongly dimmed, yet the scent comes with a time leap from the very good sprayer.
Zap....I'm back in the 80s-90s buying my perfume at the punk shop.....of course, pure Patchouli.
Many wonderful ingredients in this fragrance have only one task, to create the background for the dominant Patchouli!
Where is the rose? Where is the creamy almond, I can't find eucalyptus either, everything is overwhelmed by Patchouli and it is dark, earthy, tomb-like.
One spray is almost too much and the longevity is of course extraordinarily good.
What I should think of this, after all quite expensive, treasure......I have no idea.
It evokes memories, but the dark Patchouli of my youth was significantly cheaper.
First, let's wait and ventilate well.......

Ambré almond/sunscreen?
I discovered this fragrance when I visited the historic Molinard factories in Grasse this August.
Following the relatively short tour, we were herded like cattle into the in-house sales room and could test the entire range.
Just to give you a heads-up: It was a big disappointment. From such a traditional company, I believe more is to be expected than simply constructed fragrances without any recognizability.

After testing the cheaper fragrances (my beloved and I) we then moved on to the pompously displayed fragrances from de la collection privée and... were disappointed.
What immediately caught the eye were the fragrances displayed on spotlights (WTF? The bottles were definitely 30 degrees warm and were continuously illuminated from the bottom. Perhaps that's why it's also called Amber of Light).
Upon inquiry, we received the 5 fragrances from the Collection that hadn't been cooked for days yet.

With prices of €150 per bottle for 90ml, we felt pretty cheated, not to mention the absence of samples, and that at the source!
When we asked the friendly but stressed staff, we were then given 1ml each of Cher Wood and Ambré Lumière in a small vial.

Now, two weeks later, I finally had time to test the fragrances extensively.
AL starts off very sweet with a strong, almost gag-inducing almond note that is probably pushed by the vetiver.
After half an hour, this strong sweetness subsides a bit and more grounded notes come in, presumably patchouli and musk.
Somehow, this fragrance strongly reminds me of sunscreen, though I can't quite say why.
Over time, the fragrance becomes more bearable for me, although I wouldn't voluntarily slather myself with it again.
I was expecting Ambre, and in the manner of Ambre Nuit by Dior, which in my opinion contains real ambergris and not just amber-like molecular soup from the Wingthzu-Takiwakilabor in Indonesia....

In short: A pretty big disappointment at a way too high price.
But please don't let my review deter you from testing this fragrance; it will surely find a few adepts in the community.

Uncompromisingly Ambivalent
I will refrain from trying to draw a connection between the name "Ambré Lumière" and the scent. I will only attempt to reinforce what Angua has already described in detail.
"Ambré Lumière" is not a beacon among fragrances. Rather, for me, it is the full blast of an uncompromising patchouli scent with all the bells and whistles - at first.
When I applied "Ambré Lumière," I had a sneezing fit and thought: Here we go again with another convincing Molinard fragrance bomb. I was reminded of "Habanita." Although "Ambré Lumière" is a completely different perfume direction.
I was hit by a strong spice blend and immediately confronted with a patchouli that brooks no argument.
Now and then, I quite like patchouli scents, as long as they don't remind me too much of the time of purple overalls. Or maybe I like them sometimes precisely for that reason? I am ambivalent about it. They remind me of that time, and therefore I don't want to like them, or so it seems to me. But I do like them. They have an earthy aura that I occasionally crave intensely when choosing a fragrance. For now, I only have a small decant of "Canyon Dreams." But when I wear these scents in the presence of others, I feel embarrassed. Because I notice the wearers of patchouli fragrances everywhere and always, and inevitably encounter a certain exalted type of women who still have something of the women from that time who wore patchouli in its most intense form. I was not like that, and I do not want to come across that way.
But back to "Ambré Lumière":
Before long, an animalistic note develops that I can't quite place. I recall the scent but cannot identify what fits into the pyramid, perhaps a kind of oakmoss, and I am already inclined to put the little spray into the "Pass On" category.
Now it stands again: I still don't know? Do I want to use it up or not? And now it dawns on me that my neighbor Jutta, who loves patchouli scents above all, will no longer be able to enjoy it. I wrote about her somewhere. I gave her samples, and for Christmas, I gifted her a mini from Micallef with a patchouli scent. It was the last time I saw her healthy. She is already over 85 years old and is no longer truly "present" after strokes. Yes, it can go quickly with old people; hopefully, she had a little joy from the Micallef.
So now: The animalistic note fades, and a floral scent blend, quite creamy, makes "Ambré Lumière" more pleasant. Balsamic amber develops, and gradually I also perceive a brightening eucalyptus over a longer phase.
Little by little, the initially fierce, unruly scent transforms into a beautiful oriental perfume, spicy, sweetly floral, balsamic with a slight eucalyptus freshness, a certain sweetness, and a hint of green. Patchouli remains the protagonist, while vetiver plays a significant supporting role in the scent profile of "Ambré Lumière."
Due to the gradual transformation towards a more pleasant scent, I am not sure if I can classify "Ambré Lumière" as unisex. But that might also be influenced by the fact that I cannot imagine a distinctly patchouli scent on a man and also do not know if I would like that.
I am gradually coming to the realization that I should at least have a good patchouli scent available as a decant. "Canyon Dreams" by Keiko Mecherie or "Ambré Lumière," perhaps?

Resinous-spicy-sweet amber scent with a rich, soft development that increasingly becomes dark-vanilla. For me, one of the most beautiful amber fragrances!

The first spray contaminated the whole house. It's endless patchouli, not the sweet, gentle kind. Can I live with this...

A gentler Ambre Sultan.
Great, resinous nuances in a harmonious atmosphere.
It warms and cuddles the heart to sleep.

With its spicy richness, it's a rival to Ambre Sultan.
The scent notes feel like they're floating in thick, sweet resin. A sunset.

An overwhelming oriental with a heavily sweet opening phase that gradually softens. I can’t really picture it on a man...
