This truly is phenomenal!

Intoxicating! This and sweet temptation are absolutely amazing scents. It's very much a resinous semi fruity floral that settles into a beautiful creamy / caramel base. It's hard to describe in words except for that its more than worth the price tag! It's always a toss up between this and sweet temptation for me, they both have an amazing transformation in scent profile the more time goes by but dare I say I'm slightly starting to prefer Elixir d'amour, very very hard to pick a favourite though.

Elixir d’Amour

And here we have a magic elixir .
A wonderful Oud, not the protagonist but which I feel (particularly in the opening), initially surrounded by saffron and fresh notes, and then by a wonderful bouquet of white flowers.
That tangible, true, physical passion which however has many other beautiful feelings around it, is the protagonist but accompanied by all the other beautiful sensations it becomes even more divine.
Fantastic, unisex and something hypnotic for Oud lovers.

A fragrance that attempts to capture true love

Rose-oud fragrances are now as plentiful as sand on the beach. Most of these predominantly oriental perfumes are oppressively heavy and can almost suffocate you with improper dosing.

With "Elixir d'Amour" by Parfums d'Elmar, this is different - here, only the price causes a brief moment of breathlessness.

What you receive in return for your investment is impressively sustainable. I believe that Mark Buxton has created a fantastic fragrance experience with "Elixir d'Amour," which brings together so many aromas and notes so skillfully that it is hard to even begin to put this olfactory journey into words.

To label the perfume as a "love potion" is bold, as it raises high expectations. Whether the scent lives up to these, we will now explore together:

We already get a first impression in the top note of which direction our olfactory journey might take. The seductive, slightly sweet, and simultaneously spicy-warm components exude pure elegance and class. The gentle rose remains in the background the whole time, wrapping itself like a veil around the other notes.

It is the floral accords of lily of the valley and water jasmine that contribute their delicate aromas and together with raspberry form the heart note. The now distinctly perceivable guaiac wood proves to be an ideal fixative due to its slightly violet-like quality. This interplay is truly successful and showcases great craftsmanship.

The base is carried by wonderfully soft oud, which reveals a fine and slightly sweet character before musk and amber take control and unfold their enchanting effect. Finally, vanilla and caramel provide the sensual completion of the overall composition.

The extrait has a perfume oil concentration of 35%, which means that Elixir d'Amour accompanies you all day long.

It is such a fine, emotional scent that evokes a multitude of different emotions. Indeed, a fragrance that attempts to capture and depict true or eternal love: Elegant, emotional, magical.

Love in a Bottle

Elixir d'Amour had caught my eye for a while, as the fragrance pyramid really appealed to me.
However, when I finally sprayed it on a test strip at the Delfi perfumery, I was totally disappointed; it was transparent floral, with a slightly sweet-sour raspberry and the oud barely detectable in the background. It was just okay, but not at all what I expected. Nevertheless, I asked for a small sample to give it another chance on my skin over the weekend.
The following Saturday, the moment had come; I took the small sample from my shelf and applied it.
Nose to wrist, and immediately the scent felt much denser, spicier, and more complex on my skin, but above all, I got a lovely bright balsamic oud note right from the start, enveloped by white flowers, saffron, a juicy raspberry, and subtle pepper, along with a red rose that lightly sways in the background.
After about 3 hours, the fragrance becomes softer, and at the same time, it develops a slightly dirty/earthy note alongside the balsamic oud (perhaps patchouli), accompanied by a truly mouthwatering caramel accord. In the dry down, it gains a lovely creaminess from the musk and vanilla.
It lasts on me for 14H+ and projects strongly for the first 5/6 hours (not beast mode), then it slowly becomes more intimate.

Conclusion: I am really glad I gave this fragrance another chance.
It is very special to me and truly incomparable to any other rose-oud scent.
My love potion.
