Amalaya Parfums d'Elmar 2024

It was today when I unsuspectingly entered the perfumery to get a new scent, which is not what this is about today, when I decided to test the new d'Elmar fragrances as I was about to leave the perfumery. I was at the d'Elmar stand, and in front of me stood the founder Elmar Métry,
who introduced me to the fragrances with such fascination for his own creations that I had never experienced before. Not only did the consultation convince me, but this is one of the few fragrances to which I can honestly give a 10/10.

Amyris opens opulently, held by bergamot, with cinnamon floating lightly on top, an incredible opening, powdery & slightly masculine at the start, as if the air carries a ball full of fragrance content and distributes it purposefully. This one also has a strong concentration & is a beast in terms of longevity, as I was able to test it on my skin.

A floral powdery hint, which remains powdery & soapy even on the skin, yet pleasantly floral, develops into a creaminess with a sandalwood undertone, over which a powder floats throughout the entire fragrance progression. In my opinion, a slight masculinity underscores it, even though I could also see it on a woman; this fragrance emphasizes a confident presence and simply a signature scent.

A kind of better "Reflection Man | Amouage," and to achieve that... I never thought it would be possible.
In contrast to Reflection, this one is not spicy; it appears cleaner and more organized, with a precisely tuned fragrance development, and I see parallels; it has a similar essence but is completely different.

Noble and high-quality, as well as beautiful, just like the bottles.

A clear recommendation to test the fragrances, a brand full of incredibly good scents, and this one is a must-buy for me.

Wow, what has Elmar conjured up here again! A true creamy dream.
It starts off with a fine almond-vanilla note, which also gives me an association with tonka bean, although it is not listed here. Bit by bit, the flowers spread out. Jasmine and violet give the fragrance a fine clean touch, while ylang-ylang adds a lovely summery note. Still super creamy and not too dense.
Sandalwood envelops the flowers, bringing that fine woodiness and also the creaminess that the fragrance has throughout.
Ambrox ensures that the scent doesn’t become too dense and gives it a certain lightness.
Patchouli and vetiver add depth. Vetiver adds a woody and slightly dry component. Patchouli is very subtly earthy, but not at all overpowering. I am very sensitive to patchouli, but here it is absolutely not disturbing.
So for me, the fragrance smells like a strong fairy. Fairy-like but still strong, just like the scent is.
Longevity is outstanding, and despite being an extrait, the sillage really surprised me; I could perceive the fragrance throughout the day.

Today I was able to test "Amalaya | Parfums d'Elmar" and must admit; a true alternative candidate to Reflection Man. After being positively surprised by "Mahina | Parfums d'Elmar", "Amalaya | Parfums d'Elmar" effectively takes it a step further.

Now to the scent itself:
- At the beginning, the bergamot creates a lovely uplifting mood, while at the same time the cinnamon adds a warm depth. This opening is quickly overtaken by the white floral enchantment; ylang-ylang, jasmine, and violet form a truly lush, creamy floral world that is both intense and gentle; truly impressive. A seductive quality and definitely suitable for men; even if that’s not what one would expect. The floral notes are all very well blended, with nothing standing out individually and/or detracting from the overall picture.

- Afterwards, the fragrance transitions into a beautiful warm-earthy base of patchouli, moss, and sandalwood. The vetiver and ambroxan are also very noticeable and give the whole thing a nice dynamic kick. The amyris note comes - even though it is actually in the top note - back into play now along with the sandalwood; this creamy foundation is really great.

- The sillage and longevity are definitely above average and more than one can expect from such a DNA. A great companion for everyday life in my view.

Overall, "Amalaya | Parfums d'Elmar" is a really beautiful, bright-floral-creamy, and powdery scent. It definitely evokes Reflection Man vibes, but I find "Amalaya | Parfums d'Elmar" much more exciting, as it is more complex.

What now? Does the bottle smell? No, of course not, but if I had to describe the scent briefly, I would say: look at the bottle and you will know what to expect. Or perhaps more understandably, the other way around: spray the scent on and then look at the bottle. You smell white-cream-gold. The scent reflects exactly the color scheme of the bottle.

A creamy-powdery fragrance with floral notes caresses the skin in the opening, accompanied by a hint of cinnamon and sandalwood. This composition feels elegant, distinctive (without being overwhelming). "Amalaya | Parfums d'Elmar" has a light and somewhat masculine tendency, which remains subtly in the background due to the creamy-powdery overall impression (I certainly wouldn't specify the scent as a men's fragrance).

Overall, "Amalaya | Parfums d'Elmar" is also a fragrance that is wonderfully suitable for occasions due to its high quality. You are present, you are interesting, you want to be smelled without being the center of attention (at the occasion). "THE" statement is made, in a fine and very positive way.

Is the bottle the scent...? Yes! You are going to a lovely event that you have been looking forward to for weeks or even months, from which you have high expectations, you look at the bottle and you know.......IT FITS!

Amalaya is undoubtedly a high-quality fragrance with impressive longevity - even after two days, it can still be detected on the skin. The sillage is also enormous; you definitely leave a scent trail.

The fragrance itself is creamy, elegant, and very floral. Right after spraying, it feels soft and slightly spicy, with a pleasant freshness. But after a short time, the floral notes take over - jasmine, ylang-ylang, and violet become distinctly prominent. For me personally, it’s almost a bit too feminine, but that’s a matter of taste.

The base of sandalwood, patchouli, and musk provides a warm, slightly earthy depth that makes the fragrance feel very luxurious. I’ve heard that a meteorite is included in the composition to extend longevity - whether that’s true, I can’t say for sure, but the fragrance definitely lasts longer than average.

Conclusion: Amalaya is a very luxurious, floral fragrance with outstanding performance. Those who enjoy floral, creamy scents will love it - for me personally, it’s just a tad too feminine.
