Yara by Parfums d‘Elmar

At first, a pronounced, slightly spicy-warm leather thanks to saffron.
It becomes more opulent with subtle rose, but then distinctly sweeter and warmer.
For me, due to the sweetness, it is clearly assigned to autumn/winter.
Sillage and longevity are good.

All in all, a very beautiful leather scent.

In my opinion, it clearly distinguishes itself from the previously mentioned Tuscan Leather/London, as no fruity notes emerge. I get the impression on Parfumo that whenever leather plays a larger role in a fragrance, either Tom Ford or Widian is referenced - even though the fragrances, apart from the leather, have little to nothing in common.

Reminds me of a more well-known leather scent

When I had the chance to test the fragrance, I was amazed as it felt extremely familiar. After some careful consideration, I realized exactly which scent it reminded me of.
Yara is a leathery, slightly fruity fragrance. The leather note is present from the opening all the way to the end and clearly forms the base of the scent. A slight moisture can also be detected; however, it must be clearly stated that the fragrance strongly leans towards the Tuscan Leathers by TF. Nevertheless, a beautiful release.

A super elegant leather

Yara can definitely remind one of one or another fragrance.
I feel that all the d'Elmar perfumes I have tested so far have had this quality.
Yara reminds me of well-known names like Widian London or Tom Ford Tuscan Leather.

Here in Yara, we have a super elegant, delicate, and quite light leather. Of course, the scent is darker and more mystical than others from the house of Parfums d'Elmar, but compared to other leather fragrances, it is still relatively light and pleasing.

In my opinion, Widian London is similar in terms of leather, but it has a more intense spiciness, is a tad darker, and features that raspberry note.

Kinetic Perfumes' sillage is also similar regarding the leather, but in my opinion, it is a bit less spicy and has, like the London, that wonderful raspberry.

Tuscan Leather is indeed a good deal darker, smokier, and spicier.

Here in Yara, we have a really beautiful rose, which is by no means overwhelming.
In addition, we have the pleasant pepper note and the delicious saffron, which is beautifully showcased.
It also has that certain pleasant spiciness, a very slight sweetness, and a woody touch.
However, the leather is definitely the most prominent and present note.

This fragrance is well-received and brings compliments. One always feels like they smell really elegantly masculine.
The scent trail that envelops you is simply beautiful.

In my opinion, this fragrance can definitely be worn as unisex, but on a man, this scent stands out much better. I think it just suits us men better.

The longevity is quite positively rated, but I actually thought it would last a bit longer.
The projection is beautiful, initially also very present. Over time, the enveloping quality of the scent becomes noticeably less.

I love leather

A truly great fragrance, multifaceted, high-quality, elegant. A strong rose note, only minimally noticeable, as I usually don't like roses. But here it really fits wonderfully. I can smell the woods, amber, and musk very well, and the leather is simply high-quality. It's not a dark scent that can only be worn in winter; it can be worn well all year round. Just elegant and makes a statement.

The Perhaps Roundest Leather Fragrance

For me personally, the brand Parfums d'Elmar is somehow a bit peculiar. Gilded bottles, a lot of fanfare in the marketing from the brand owner in various podcasts, and with some of the fragrances I have smelled from the brand, I had the feeling "you've smelled this somewhere before".

However, the Yara completely surprised me when I got to smell it for the first time. And this is despite the fact that this fragrance also reminds me of other scents. I was on the hunt for my leather fragrance and tested many in this category. Tuscan Leather Eau de Parfum, London Extrait de Parfum, C: Woody Leather, Suède et Safran, and so on.

And yet, I couldn't get the Yara out of my mind. For me, this is the roundest and softest version of a leather fragrance. In the opening, saffron, a slight spiciness, and a certain zest greet you. As the fragrance moves into the drydown, it transforms into a beautifully soft leather scent with a very rounded sweetness, which I perceive as coming from tonka bean.

There are no edges or corners here, and the scent smells incredibly pleasant to me. In the perfumery where I first tested the fragrance, the salesperson had the following association, which I find quite fitting as a mental image: "the scent smells like a brand new Bentley on the inside with completely white leather upholstery".

If London Extrait de Parfum is too angular for you, if you have grown tired of Tuscan Leather Eau de Parfum, and if you are simply looking for a pleasant leather fragrance that will appeal to pretty much everyone who smells it, I can only warmly recommend the Yara. It has certain parallels to the Tuscan Leather Eau de Parfum DNA, but for me, it is the most beautiful scent in this category that I have smelled so far.

Longevity and projection are good; I have nothing to complain about here. The bottle is of high quality, and the gradient from gold to blue is very nicely done. Whether one really needs a gilded cap is debatable, but at least the quality of the fragrance and the bottle is undeniable.

The only point of criticism for me, as with the other Parfums d'Elmar fragrances, is the price. This one officially costs €275 for 60ml, which I find quite steep, but it does fall into the price category of the other listed fragrances. A beautiful leather fragrance that will likely please everyone, is made of very good quality, even if the DNA is nothing new. If you prefer something a bit more angular, then London Extrait de Parfum is more suitable, and if you find the scent too sweet, you might want to check out C: Woody Leather. Nevertheless, my perhaps favorite leather fragrance.
