Prim&Proper
A new release (from 2010) of a classic scent launched for the first time in 1977. It's a greenish, herbal concoction with hardly any flowers and a wry dryness, not a floral chypre in my books. This fragrance does not talk to me at all. I can't say that it is unpleasant, but it bears no element of surprise, no fascinating chord. It comes across like a well-established, decent toilet water for people who want to obey the code of conduct. Absolutely devoid of any erotic hues, this seems to be respectability in a bottle. It's prim and proper - and could easily pass as a scent created for Victorians, when it was dedicated to Elizabeth II. Not my cuppa!

Penhaligon's - An Obituary for Headless, Vegetarian Scents, Seventh Strike
I had found a treasure map in our kitchen, labeled in ornate letters "Shopping List." It spoke of crates of the finest paper of inestimable value, and fragrant treasures meant to protect against evil spirits. Naturally, I quickly hoisted the sails of our four-wheeler and set out on a quest for the promised treasures with the help of this treasure map. The journey was long and arduous, and I experienced many adventures along the way. Among other things, a young sailor tried to board me in the dangerous outskirts of an industrial area. As an old sea dog, I knew how to prevent this in time and soon reached the longed-for destination. In the distance, I could already see the blue E on a yellow background mentioned on the treasure map, under which the treasure was supposed to be buried, nestled in the densely wooded mountains behind the rugged cliffs. After a day's march through the jungle, I finally arrived at the said spot and was horrified to discover that I was not the first. Two female pirates had arrived before me and were already dueling over the precious treasure. But they could not have been the first on the scene, as the hole was already dug and many chests were empty - only a few of the valuable rolls remained, which now provided the two with a reason for their duel, while all the fragrant protection and cleansing treasures were already gone. A fight would have had little chance of success, as they seemed too determined. I had to return home empty-handed and was a bit afraid of my queen's reaction. But I knew of something in my treasure chamber that could appease her - it was not quite the desired soap, but very similar in scent and of even greater value: a small sample of Jubilee Bouquet.
Jubilee Bouquet - I had the opportunity to test the vintage version in the splash bottle with a yellow ribbon, for which I owe my deepest thanks to the lovely Serafina - is at its core a soapy scent. Initially, it is a spicy clove soap, softened by light hesperidic notes. Then it turns into a powdery floral soap, warm and of royal elegance. Then moss soap, also warm and soft and just a little scratchy. This scent treasure can tell stories of old kings and queens, old tales that are true, or perhaps not, stories that are beautiful and sometimes a little sad, stories from a distant land far across the sea.
I want to find such a treasure! I can already see myself drawing a treasure map; one must still be allowed to hope. I just don't know yet where it will lead. And for this treasure, I will not arrive too late, that is certain.

Stylish Soapiness
I don't really understand why this fragrance is listed as a women's scent. It works for men too!

The anniversary bouquet is of the noble, soapy kind. If you don't like soapiness in perfumes, you should not test this one.

The opening is fresh and citrusy, with a subtle hint of clove.

After about 10 minutes, the aforementioned soapiness comes into play with a beautiful bouquet of bitter flowers! Very elegant and "very British." This accord lasts a long time for me before the base takes over with a rather dry woodiness. A bit of moss also comes through, and the musk (soapiness) is pushed into the background here.

At first, I didn't like this scent, but the longer I wore it, the more I liked it! I will probably test it one more time to be really sure whether it will find a place in my collection.

Lissy's Silver Wedding Anniversary
Probably the two most famous English perfume houses - Penhaligon's and Floris - are in a nearly permanent competition to create fragrances for or around the English royal family. Floris has shone with three new creations based on ancient recipes, such as Wedding Bouquet, Victorious EdP, and the Royal Arms Diamond Edition, which is also available as pure perfume for just under €20,000.

Penhaligon's Jubilee Bouquet was created in 1977 on the occasion of Queen Elizabeth II's silver wedding anniversary and is, in my opinion, very special.

The top note does not come across as harsh and bitter as I expected, as the bergamot is kept in check by chamomile. I cannot perceive any clove in this.

Then it becomes floral; I would confirm jasmine and violet, with rose only in minimal dosage. The iris comes with its powderiness only later. Ylang has simply been forgotten. I would rather lean towards a tiny bit of lavender, as the whole fragrance has, in my feeling, something old-fashioned about it. And yes, it also has a certain soapiness, but not the fresh soapiness I would have actually expected, rather - as already mentioned - something old-fashioned.

In the end, the Jubilee Bouquet becomes powdery and woody, still containing the few flowers, but I cannot perceive anything from amber and musk, at most a minimal dose of sweetness in the background on a dry, herbaceous base.

It may be that the scent corresponds to the Queen's taste, but definitely not mine. I certainly do not want to smell like this for my silver wedding anniversary!

Very British
Thanks to a lovely perfume, I became acquainted with two English ladies from the house of Penhaligon, each exuding nobility and at the same time the cool charm of the British upper class in her own way.
On the left, I am wearing the slightly harsher Lady Jubilee Bouquet, and on the right, the charming Lady Lily of the Valley. The lady on the right makes it easy for me to embrace her. Lily of the Valley is a bright, light, and completely unsweetened lily of the valley scent with green undertones - simply wonderful.
The lady on the left, Jubilee Bouquet, presents herself a bit scratchy and coy, and we are not really fond of each other. The bitter-spicy, herbal opening - I blame the chamomile for this - is still quite appealing. But shortly thereafter, like many Chypres, it becomes increasingly soapy in a rather old-fashioned way, something I struggle with, except for very few exceptions. The scent retains the strongly soapy note, even as woody nuances mix in the base; the flowers are not perceptible to me due to the strongly soapy character. From the very beginning, Lady Jubilee Bouquet maintains the stiff upper lip of the British upper class and has something distant and unattainable.
Nevertheless, I do not want to miss the acquaintance with the British lady.

Green-spicy chypre scent. English-old school-classic.
It becomes slightly animalistic over time, which I really like here.

Very classic powdery scent with a strong moss base, clove-floral Chypre structure, and lots of soapy musk.

A classic 70s women's fragrance. Starts off bitter and spicy, but becomes increasingly floral and soapy. I also see it on gentlemen. Old, but good.
