Inspired By BR540
This is Phlur’s lighter and more vanillic take on FK’s Baccarat Rouge 540 Eau de Parfum. I own both the br540 edp and extrait. Amber Haze sits within the same scent profile, but rather than cotton candied strawberry, Amber Haze’s sweetness comes from the addition of amber and vanilla, making it a warmer, creamier alternative. It’s because of this that most people seem to prefer wearing Amber Haze in cool/cold temperatures. I personally find it wearable all year around. While there’s no ambroxan listed in the notes of Amber Haze, it definitely has the same oceanic scent that ambroxan delivers… maybe it’s the particular type of musk used here, which is definitely the more animalic kind— and my favorite!
The scent of Amber Haze reminds me of clean, sun warmed skin that’s slightly damp with fresh sweat and salty from the ocean. Layer that with a creamy floral vanilla and a subtle spice from saffron, and you get this sexy, delicious fragrance. Like all of the Phlur body mists I have worn, Amber Haze has pretty impressive longevity and projection for a mist. I get about 3-4 hours of longevity with a nice arm’s length scent bubble around me the first 2. If you don’t like Amber Haze and prefer a lighter, fruitier take on the BR540 profile, I highly recommend Sol de Janiero Cheirosa ‘68. Enjoy!
