Blood oranges. Although I generally like orange fruits and find them great in fragrances, I sometimes have to avoid blood oranges. Because they can cause me severe heartburn, which I've been experiencing quite often lately and find extremely annoying. Unfortunately, blood oranges seem to exacerbate this (the juice does too).
It's nice that at least the scent of these fruits can't harm me (but apparently, it can my cat :D), so I can enjoy the most citrusy fragrances quite well. Therefore, I'm even more excited to test this fragrance, as I'm once again in that phase that many of you surely know: Which fragrance should I buy next for summer? :DDD
No matter how many thousands of opinions you read here in the forum, in the end, you can't decide anyway, and then summer is already over... tsss... not to mention that you promise yourself to do better next summer by starting the search for new fragrances earlier... that never works! ...
And if you finally do get something new, you discover something much better just a day later! *sigh* :DD
The scent:
The fragrance begins with a wonderful, citrusy, and very refreshing blood orange. I really like that you can smell the scent of the blood orange very distinctly. It is initially bitter, as you smell more of the peel, but then you also smell the delicious pulp while still being able to detect the peel.
The top note actually only smells of these citrus fruits, as the leather takes a little while to appear.
As mentioned, the leather only comes in later, but it is so weak that you really have to sniff closely, as the blood orange still smells quite strong and juicy.
Only in the base can you smell another fragrance note with the woods. Although not very strong, the woods simply match very well with the oranges, which, by the way, lose a bit of their bitterness over time. A little later, a gentle musk note comes in, giving the fragrance a slight, dark sweetness (but again, this is very subtle). It actually smells primarily of blood oranges with woody notes.
The sillage and longevity:
The beginning is good, very refreshing, and correspondingly strong. Unfortunately, the level does not hold up, as the fragrance quickly weakens. It can still be smelled on the skin for a while, but it doesn't project particularly strongly.
The longevity is about three to four hours. While that sounds okay for a summer fragrance, after about two hours, the scent unfortunately becomes a bit too close to the body. Well, you can always reapply if necessary...
The bottle:
The bottle is blue, cylindrical, and tapers inward towards the neck. On the front, there is a large white label. The cap is gold-plated. It is cylindrical and patterned at the bottom and bears the Shay & Blue logo. The top side is flat and hexagonal. All in all, a nice bottle.
Hmmm... Blood Oranges has become a very nice fragrance for warm days. Some might find my rating a bit too high, but I just love orange fragrances. Therefore, I really like this scent with its blood oranges, which, although weak, still smell nice.
However, you should know that this fragrance is quite simple. Simple, but beautiful. Most of the time, you "only" smell the blood oranges. The leather in the heart note might only be detectable for a tiny moment (and that extremely faintly), but the fragrances listed in the base of the fragrance pyramid are not particularly prominent either.
So, the fragrance is very suitable for quick refreshment on hot days if you're into this type of scent. Or if you want to keep an annoying cat at bay (*sigh*, but the poor thing just wants to cuddle :( ... darn... after this comment, I have to go pet and cuddle him right away, but of course, he won't want to then :D
Let's see: No, he likes it, but now he's awake, coming towards me, jumping on my table, and lying down, once again on my arms... now I've got him around my neck... *sigh* And the other day, he even hit me in a real "in-your-face" way... and I didn't even do anything!...).
Anyone who likes citrus fruits and fragrances should definitely check this out. It could be worth it!
