Watermelons,… hm… they are delicious fruits, the perfect treats for summer. Oh, and the only round fruits that my cat cannot push around, no matter how hard he tries. That furball isn’t that strong after all, even if he terrorizes us all here at home and some even cross the street when he shows up :D
As for watermelons, I love these fruits so much that I often nibble on large pieces of the inner rind, yum :D
So I’m curious to see what the scent of Shay & Blue is like, a brand with which I’ve actually had good experiences so far.
The Scent:
At first, it really smells like watermelons. However, they are a bit too sweet, almost as if they have been genetically manipulated in a lab to perfection and thus lost some of their authenticity, but taste better… well… that can be seen as a good thing, or not.
In addition, there are green notes that fit well with the summery scent. One of these green notes has a slightly piercing undertone, could it be the honeysuckle? I’m not sure. You can also smell the green tea quite well, which is a bit faint, but I still like it.
I think, in the base, you can still smell the honeysuckle, the watermelons seem to be less fragrant, but they become noticeable again in the later base. All in all, it’s a synthetic scent, but still nicely done without any particular strengths. However, the synthetic aspect increases significantly after four to five hours, so you should reapply, as the scent doesn’t smell very good anymore.
The Sillage and Longevity:
The projection is low. Well, at first it projects well, but that only lasts a few minutes, after which the projection steadily and quickly decreases. Before long, you have to get quite close to smell the scent on someone.
I would rate the longevity at four hours. The scent probably lasts twice as long, but after about four hours, all the wonderful fragrance notes are used up, leaving a not-so-pleasant synthetic impression. As mentioned above, I would reapply after about four hours.
The Bottle:
The bottle is blue, cylindrical, and has a small bend at the top, continuing conically afterward. The cap is gold-plated and has a multi-faceted lower section. The upper part is hexagonal and flat. The label, which has a gold-plated frame, is white and displays the name of the fragrance alongside the logo. All in all, a quite nice bottle.
So, the scent isn’t as bad as it has been rated here (of course, opinions vary…), it starts off quite nicely and really does smell like watermelons. The remaining scents are green and fit well with the rest or the summery orientation of the fragrance. However, there is a sense of synthetic quality, which isn’t too bad (except after many hours, when it doesn’t smell good anymore), but it is still noticeable. You can compare the scent well with the CK Summer fragrances, as this scent takes the same direction. Because the CK fragrances are also quite synthetic, but for summer, just like the Shay & Blue here, they are quite usable. Thus, it is suitable as a simple daytime fragrance on warm days.
Hmm… if I gently roll a watermelon towards my cat, he gets scared and quickly runs away, or at least hastily scurries to the side. He would never have thought that such a ball could roll towards him, considering he is usually the one rolling balls around!
But he is also a lucky guy, because it must seem to him like the famous scene with the boulder from Indiana Jones, so he could play out that scene in the role of Indy :D
What would he call himself then?... Indiana Cat or Cat Jones maybe? :DD
Probably the latter,… after all, the dog in the Jones family was named Indiana, and I don’t think a cat would take on the name of a dog like our Dr. Jones :DD
