pretty enough but lacking nuance
Lilac and Gooseberries is an uncomplicated tumble of tart, tangy berries against a delicate floral backdrop. It’s not as sharp or bitter as I would have expected... nor as interesting. It smells more like the idea of a person than a person. Like someone is describing his amazing sorceress girlfriend, and she's so perfect and wonderful and never farts or eats onion sandwiches or draws blood or makes mistakes, and he leaves out all the nuance and complexity of what makes his beloved so intriguing. It's like someone fed all their perfect girlfriend material into an AI machine, and it produced a robot to their specifications, but she has no personality and hasn't yet become self-aware. And yet…there are some days when I really need that blank slate to build myself up to be pretty and put together and ~definitely very normal~ because this is what the world expects of me.

A Sweet Memory
I am quite new to the world of perfume; one day I decided: "I want a scent!" Through the association with the character "Yennefer of Vengerberg," I found this fragrance and, after some research, bought a whole bottle blind.
No regrets.
I still lack precise words and descriptions from this niche, but I will do my best.

Upon the first application, I found it hard to describe the scent more accurately; I only knew it smelled good and I liked it.
In the following days, I was able to articulate this feeling more clearly: a sweet yet tangible dream or a memory of a person I hold dear, whose touch I can still feel clearly, as she just disappeared from my sight around the next curve.

At first, I smell a light lilac, like a breeze coming through the open window into my room, and then a freshness joins in, a cooler gust of air that invigorates and awakens me. After that, a sweet gooseberry comes into play and lingers for a long while, cuddling closer to me.

The scent lasts well over a workday; after that, it is still detectable when I sniff directly at my skin.

All in all, I would describe it as "Sweet Freshness."

[ For the Witcher fans:
I saw a small discourse online about this scent and Yennefer, with some saying "No, that's not Yenn" and others "Definitely yes." I would say it is the memory of Yennefer. Geralt smells this scent when he searches for Yennefer and thinks of her, with the longing to find her. And I find this scenario is represented by this fragrance. One does not feel the dangerous mysterious magic and the seductive aura of Yennefer; one feels the memory and longing for her and her tender love.]

no Yennefer of Vengerberg
Anyone who has played Witcher 3 probably knows the refrain of Priscilla's ballad:

"In the morning you flee from my dreams
Bitter gooseberry, sweet lilac
In my dream I see raven-black curls
Your violet eyes wet with tears"

Taken out of context, it loses its impact, but in the game, I found the song very beautiful and have often listened to it since.
Of course, I immediately thought of the sung-about Yen when I read about this fragrance. As far as I remember, she is also the only character whose scent has been described at all, and then often enough that gooseberries and lilacs seem inextricably linked to her.

What can I say, the scent does not smell at all like the Yennefer in my imagination. It is simply too soft and sweet for my taste. It reminds me more of an innocent schoolgirl with pink flower clips in her hair than a powerful sorceress who commands chaos.
I also cannot detect a distinct lilac note like in other fragrances, for example, "Lilac Path." It seems to me that one has caught a rather sweet gooseberry that has turned out a bit powdery, leaving little room for the lilac.
However, those who enjoy pure, slightly sweet fragrances will find this one satisfying.

It could also be that my skin chemistry is playing another cruel trick on me here. On a paper strip, the scent actually comes across quite differently. Much more floral, cooler, with an almost almond-like note. Clear and unpowdery. Much more Yennefer-like ;)

Extraordinary, woody-fresh-sweet-warm, beautiful! Not a crowd-pleaser, but perfect for individuals - like Yen :) Tip: Let it age for depth!

Very one-dimensional surprisingly sweet berry juice gives lilac no chance. Not necessarily bothersome but somehow boring.
