Not a Fruitchouli, But Smells Like One
I'm trying to make room for more samples and just finished my decant of Cachouli. As I mentioned in my review of Byredo's Velvet Haze, I really enjoy the interplay of chocolate and patchouli notes, as they enhance the earthiness and sweetness that both notes share. For some reason, I also pick up fruit on the drydown. Perhaps it's the dried fruits or orange blossom listed in the notes, but my nose detects green fig and juicy, tropical pineapple. Whatever its source, the fruitiness lifts and lightens a composition that could easily become too dirty (patchouli, mushrooms, soil) or too sweet (cinnamon, cocoa, honey, dried fruits, tonka bean). Another Prin Lomros masterpiece!
