Smells beige, not orange.
The opening is quite nice, with the freshness of bergamot and the sweetness of Lily of the Valley. There's a whisper of frankincense, though I doubt there's any of the actual stuff. Ten minutes in, I did get Boswellia Scotia for a brief moment, but mixed with artificially flavored whipped cream from a can, and unfortunately this linear, artificial note lingers.

In the dry down after the fresh and woody notes have faded, there's the familiar cozy, comforting waft of benzoin resin in hot almond oil. Gourmand, yes, but not too sweet. This is a warming, calming fragrance. I'd like to see how it fares in colder days.

The metal bottle was designed by the Game of Thrones production designer... No, it wasn't, but that's what it's giving: Poison vial. Magic elixir. It's over-the-top ridiculous, like merch from a D&D shop and I love it.

Update: Swiss Arabian's Incense 01 (2025) smells strikingly similar to Derviche II.

Less Incense, More Soap
I received a sample of this fragrance as a bonus. After the first glance at the fragrance pyramid, I actually expected significantly more incense.

At the start, there is a hint of something slightly sacred, but it quickly gives way to a gourmand sweetness combined with spicy soap. My skepticism regarding the rum was not confirmed; it merely blends into the overall composition, the scent is not boozy.

However, since I don't particularly like soapy scents, I initially set it aside. Some time later, when it was noticeably cooler outside, I decided to give it another try. We were on our way to an event at the community hall, and I wanted to be noticed on one hand, but on the other hand, I didn't want to carry around a scent cloud that would make people behind me shake their heads.

Here, I found Incense 01 - applied discreetly - to be quite suitable, as the soapy impression somehow conveys a well-groomed feeling. Shortly thereafter, I also bought a bottle and am very satisfied with it.

I would definitely wear it in the fall and winter due to its intensity, in the evenings for myself or when going out.

The One - Incense 01
I recently ordered the fragrance directly from the SA, actually without any specific expectations, but because of the components. I like incense, both for burning and in perfumes. And the chocolatey side, rum, nuts, cedar - sounds good.

Even before the fragrance arrived, I watched an online video about it from an enthusiastic Austrian perfume collector and thought to myself, sounds good - according to him, it's an incense bomb.

Well, where do I start?
So the fragrance has a brutal power, that much is certain. One spray and the room smells of it - forever. That can be good or bad.

After a few sprays, the bottle also smells a bit like incense. But that's about it for the resin, in my opinion.

On the skin, Incense 01 starts with a little freshness, which quickly fades away. From then on, it's simply nutty and a bit too floral-sweet for my taste. At this stage, you can also discern subtle hints of well-known men's fragrances - moss, incense, juniper - definitely a soapy affair.

Over time, a "minty" cloud surrounds you - probably the juniper - paired with a heavy sweetness. Kind of a bit "After Eight," although not as pepperminty, but going in that direction. You have to like it.

Then the roasted aroma becomes stronger, and a phase begins that reminds me - despite no parallels - of D&G The One. I can even perceive the actually non-existent orange blossom combo with cardamom here. So far - not quite - so good. I'm not a fan of The One myself.
I'm over 40, and it's somehow too sweet-spicy, sweaty, and youthful for me.

The final dry down, which you can still smell the next day after a delightful shower, then smells classically Middle-Eastern, hearty, slightly animalic-nutty. This nuance of nutty leather I also perceive in the background during the middle phase of the fragrance.

So what remains from my blind purchase without initial expectations:

Those who enjoy ultra-lush, heavy, sweet, gourmand monsters won't be able to get enough of this. Paired with an initial slightly minty note, there are also soapy elements. Those waiting for incense itself won't find it here.

Incense 01 will probably not stay long in my collection.

Elegant, put-together vibe that is so warm and cozy in the drydown. Niche-appealing. Mature. Complex.

A refined and elegant scent. To me brings to mind Amouage Purpose 50, with a fresh opening and smooth touch of incense.

Bergamot-resin burst softens into nutty sweetness before returning to gentle incense-vanilla base. Unique, bold, and satisfying drydown.

Gentle incense with a fresh bergamot infusion unfolds softly into a slightly tipsy oriental gourmand.

The pastor rushes to the high altar in a sugar high and accidentally knocks over the altar boy swinging the censer. Both laugh.

You have to search for the incense, but the spicy sweetness of D&G The One, the minty freshness of After Eight, and an ultra powerful longevity make up for it.

When the incense runs out in church, you can lend Incense 01 to the priest! xD Incense bomb and totally not for me!

Gris Charnel, is that you? Fig comes through nicely, incense is unusually creamy, with a pleasant amount of sweetness.
7.2 scent? Surprised.

The mojito in the church. The bergamot comes through very prominently with the incense, while other notes stay in the background.

The incense opening turns into a spicy oriental soap with very good sillage. Love at second sight.
