Smells beige, not orange.
The opening is quite nice, with the freshness of bergamot and the sweetness of Lily of the Valley. There's a whisper of frankincense, though I doubt there's any of the actual stuff. Ten minutes in, I did get Boswellia Scotia for a brief moment, but mixed with artificially flavored whipped cream from a can, and unfortunately this linear, artificial note lingers.

In the dry down after the fresh and woody notes have faded, there's the familiar cozy, comforting waft of benzoin resin in hot almond oil. Gourmand, yes, but not too sweet. This is a warming, calming fragrance. I'd like to see how it fares in colder days.

The metal bottle was designed by the Game of Thrones production designer... No, it wasn't, but that's what it's giving: Poison vial. Magic elixir. It's over-the-top ridiculous, like merch from a D&D shop and I love it.

Update: Swiss Arabian's Incense 01 (2025) smells strikingly similar to Derviche II.

The One - Incense 01
I recently ordered the fragrance directly from SA, actually without any special expectations, but because of the components. I like incense, even directly for smoking and in perfumes. And also the chocolaty side, rum, nuts, cedar - sounds good.

Even before the fragrance arrived on the doorstep, I saw a video about the scent online from an enthusiastic Austrian perfume collector and thought to myself, it sounds good - an incense bomb according to him.

Well, where do I start.
So the fragrance has brute power, that's for sure. One spray and the room smells like it - forever. That may be good or bad.

After spraying the bottle a few times, it also smells a little like incense. But that's it for the resin, in my opinion.

Incense 01 starts with a little freshness on the skin, but this quickly fades. From then on, it is simply nutty and a little too sweet and floral for my taste. At this stage, there are also subliminal hints of familiar men's fragrances - moss, incense, juniper - a soapy affair in any case.

Over time, there is a "minty" cloud around you - probably juniper - paired with a heavy sweetness. Somehow a little "After Eight", although not so pepperminty, but going in that direction. You have to like it.

Then the roasted aroma becomes stronger and a phase begins that reminds me - despite no parallels - of D&G The One. I even detect the actually non-existent combination of orange blossom and cardamom. So far - not quite - so good. I'm not a fan of The One myself.
I'm over 40 and it's somehow too sweet and spicy, sweaty and youthful for me.

The last drydown, which you can still wear the day after and after an enjoyable shower, smells classically Middle-East pithy, slightly animalic and nutty. I can also hear this nuance of nutty leatheriness in the background during the middle course of the fragrance.

So what remains of my blind purchase without initial expectations:

If you like ultra-rich, heavy, sweet, gourmand monsters, you won't be able to get enough of this one either. Paired with an initial slightly minty note, there are also soapy notes. If you are waiting for incense itself, you won't quite find it here.

Incense 01 will probably not stay in my collection for long.

Bergamot-resin burst softens into nutty sweetness before returning to gentle incense-vanilla base. Unique, bold, and satisfying drydown.
