Dehn El Ood Shaheen: A Harmonious Symphony of Oud and Leather
In my first review on Parfumo, I dedicate myself to the fascinating Dehn el Ood Shaheen oil from Swiss Arabian. My journey through the world of niche perfumes has led me to a discovery: Oud, a fragrance note that increasingly captivates and enchants me.

Through extensive research in the forum about Oud, I repeatedly came across the oils from Swiss Arabian. This led me to the conviction that Dehn el Ood Shaheen should be the next logical step on my olfactory journey. Although it is not a pure Oud oil, it offers a scent experience that is both affordable and does not represent a significant loss if one does not like it. Additionally, the bottle, with its aesthetic design, is almost a decorative work of art that looks great on any shelf.

When applying the oil to the skin, a subtle, slightly animalistic note unfolds, which, however, is not as intense as in the usual plantation Oud-containing spray perfumes like "Oud Stars - Alexandria II (Parfum) | XerJoff" or "Amoral | pernoire." This note dissipates after a few minutes, leaving behind a warm, leathery, and woody scent. The dominant impression for me is that of old, earthy leather enveloping an antique wooden box. Surprisingly, the fragrance leans more towards leather than I had expected.

However, the sillage did not fully convince me during the cool winter months. Even with generous application, the oil was only perceptible to me and others when one got very close to the treated skin areas. The longevity is also not comparable to the previously mentioned perfumes; after about 4-5 hours, I could no longer perceive the oil on my skin.

Nevertheless, the oil is worth a blind purchase for me solely because of its beautiful bottle. My Oud journey will continue with oils from Ensar Oud, from which I hope to achieve a stronger sillage and longer longevity due to their purity.

The "Advanced" Variant of Mubarak
Both Oud oils from Swiss Arabian come in the same bottle but with different notes, offering an optimal entry into the world of ouds, and even for oud fans, they still provide enough variety and excitement, especially for the low price.

Dehn El Oud Shaheen is the slightly stronger and more animalic of the two. Starting with a strong animalic note, the fragrance softens over time and spreads on the skin. Since this is an oil, the scent takes longer to fully develop. It essentially warms up on the skin before it expands. Once the animalic notes have faded, it becomes pleasantly leathery, woody, and oudy, significantly easier to bear, though still somewhat of an adjustment for beginners, especially in the opening. Animalic notes remain perceptible throughout, but they become lighter... and is that banana I smell in the opening? Strange, but interesting. After a few hours, it turns into soft, pleasant, slightly sweet wood.

This scent is oud through and through; for someone who really wants to test oud to the core, I can only recommend this fragrance. Not only is this scent exciting for beginners, but even for someone who has already experienced a few ouds, the Shaheen offers a great, albeit animalic, experience, and definitely serves as a kind of "upgrade" to the Mubarak, at least in terms of interesting notes, performance, and animalic qualities. It immediately reminds me of Frederic Malle's The Night, which impressed me back then but didn't make it into my collection due to its absurd price. This one is not only significantly cheaper but also makes the application process really enjoyable - a great experience for someone who finds the process of applying oil exciting.

The bottle is absolutely top-notch, the price is a full 10, and the scent is excellent. Sillage is a tricky point - this type of oil works great in hot, oriental countries, as they project more from the skin. In cold countries, however, they stay closer to the skin and don't really deliver the performance they were designed for. Nevertheless, I find them perfectly fine, and while the sillage loses a bit of points as it gets colder, longevity gains even more, and this scent is no exception - 12 hours are absolutely no problem here.

Unrestricted (blind) purchase recommendation for anyone who dares to test a real oud. For someone who wants to try it but is sensitive to oud and/or animalic notes, I recommend the Mubarak instead - a great, softer, and gentler variant. Personally, I find the Shaheen a bit more beautiful.

Great Introduction to the World of Oud Oils
A certain animalic note is definitely present, but I don't find it disturbing. The scent also reminds me of a spicy soft cheese. Over time, the fragrance becomes softer, even slightly sweet. I don't perceive it as unpleasant or even fecal. For me, it's a good introduction to the world of agarwood, even if there probably isn't any "real wood" in the bottle at this price. I would rate the price-performance ratio as very good. The 6 ML changes hands for between 25 and 40 euros. It has awakened my desire for more, and I am already looking forward to trying other attars. The packaging and the quality of the bottle are very good for the price.

Great Overall Package
This fragrance is, as described in other reviews, indeed very similar to its brother. At first glance, I would say that the distinct animalic notes (goaty, floral, slightly cheesy) and the weaker leather scent make the difference. However, the perfume is kept a bit simpler, as I could hardly detect any change in the scent. Here, too, I noticed a sandalwood smell and something spicy or medicinal (slightly menthol). The scent note of "damp wood," like in Oud Assam by Maison Anthony Marim, is immediately noticeable here, dominating until the drydown. Unfortunately, the fragrance has only mediocre sillage on me and lasts only half a day. Since the oil is quite thick, one should be careful when applying it on clothing to avoid visible stains.

Your animalistic and menthol aura fades as you fly, still earthy and damp, on leathery wings into spicy and dry wood warmth!

For many, presumably bulkier than brother "Dehn el Ood Mubarak". Initially quite animalistic, it later becomes dark earthy-woody. Top quality!

Animalistic oud with smoky, goat-like, but also floral notes, along with hints reminiscent of blue cheese. For advanced users.

Mubarak is more like a little angel. Really a step more animalistic, but there’s “worse.” Deep dark wood, not sweet at all.

Beautiful barn, almost nostalgic for me. The animalistic note is a bit weaker but remains until the end. Smells elegant, just like the bottle.

I can identify two parallel scent developments. Damp wood becomes dry, animalic shifts from earthy to spicy. But it needs warmth for that.

In the glittering Swarovski bottle is an animalistic, woody beast trapped inside. Fascination! The scent and bottle are absolutely high-quality.

Animalistic, dark, woody. A bulkier, more complex version of the dehn el ood Mubarak.
