Dark Dessert - Affogato
Don’t mind the bad reviews for this one. People have been clamoring to be the first to get their hands on this to post content right off of the heels of big releases like Bianco Latte and similar clones.

Shaghaf Vanilla Toffee is nothing like that. This is a very dark and intense gourmand that really teeters that line on what people actually call gourmand.

Just looking at the note breakdown it makes me think of a chef brainstorming a dessert, combining flavors that can compliment each other to get to a certain flavor, chasing that michelin star. In this case the chef focused on toffee’s dark roasted flavor.

That’s what this smells like to me.

It opens with strong toffee and supplemented with black coffee notes with some brown sugar binding the two together. The dates and cardamom pop in the accentuate the opening notes creating some smoky feel, on top of a backdrop of vanilla and a hint of walnut. The mix of the last two gives it that very slight milk feel. On the dry down the backdrop of vanilla remains, tonka keeping it soft, and the woods, musk and benzoin come out keeping some level of smokiness that compliments the vanilla very well. Like a a fancy affogato

To my nose that darkness of it makes it lean more masculine.

The darkness does make it very versatile. Someone could easily dress this up in a suit for a night out like a casino, date, ballroom event. Or dress this down for home to lounge. If your girl wears Bianco Latte you can wear this.

Definitely would work better for colder days.

Other than that it delivers on the name, lots of vanilla and toffee with complimentary flavors that develop around it. Idk what everyone else expected when they saw the word toffee on the bottle. Toffee is cooked at higher temps than caramel and give a much darker and more roasted flavor. It doesn’t smell burnt or bitter you just don’t like toffee ¯ _(ツ)_/¯

Unfortunately no, unfortunately not at all :-(
Vanilla Toffee... Finally a new fragrance suitable for the fall and winter season. Man... the anticipation was great, because Swiss Arabian definitely has some very good fragrances in its range and the Youtube promo videos of some influencers for this fragrance were very positive.
So I pre-ordered it straight away... Vanilla Toffee... sounds great, delicious, exciting and tasty. It finally arrived today. I was more than ready to officially open the Christmas season, so I quickly unpacked it, examined the wonderfully yellow, creamy bottle and sprayed it on straight away.

Instead of the long-awaited HO HO HO, it was unfortunately HUST HUST HUST... and that's no lie... Wow, what was that? The opening pops... but where is my creamy toffee, the milk, the coffee and the delicious vanilla?

Let's get to the point... Vanilla Toffee is more reminiscent of a barbecue where too much spirit has been used, charred wood or burnt caramel from a frying pan. Too intense, too abstract, far too smoky. It really doesn't work for me and unfortunately my expectations were not met at all.

I praise the Vanilla Haze from Fugazzi, which really sends you to a Christmas market in terms of scent.

After a few hours, the fragrance is still super strong, so in terms of longevity it can certainly be classified as good. There will certainly be people who find Vanilla Toffee unusual and "different". I wouldn't recommend the blind buy, it's better to get a sample first and have a sniff. Unfortunately, I have no choice but to write Santa a new fragrance on my wish list.

Brother eeeeewww...
... What's that? What's that brother?!
I managed to get hold of a sample here on Parfumo (thanks again) and am so glad I didn't buy a whole bottle as a blind buy.
The first 10 seconds were a caramelized dream but then... brute smokiness, burnt nuttiness, pungent bite. No trace of gourmand anymore. Smells rather woody, like incense sticks from 30 years ago.
After about 2 hours, it calms down and becomes creamy but still tart. The durability on the skin was about 4 hours. Clothing more like 8 hours.
For me, the fragrance is very masculine, not gourmand and absolutely not a blind buy candidate.
And I find it almost insulting that some people compare it to Amore Caffe, because it does its job and is worth the money.
One point for the sillage - my whole house smelled of burnt up to the 1st floor...
Also, the scent has zero in common with the picture that shows it as a pastry floating in caramel sauce.
Not worth the hype, too bad.

It's complicated
The ratings here are very different.
From 1 to 10, everything is included and many seem to be very disappointed.
This is probably also due to the fact that the fragrance was a bit hyped or that people simply expected something really cool with the name "Vanilla Toffee".
I wasn't disappointed myself, but Vanilla Toffee didn't really meet my high expectations either.

In the opening, I get the full load of sweet, salty toffee.
I don't notice any coffee, however, but a strange disturbing note that I can't really describe.
It smells almost metallic.

After a couple of minutes, this disruptive note becomes increasingly nutty and I notice a nice walnut note.
The fruity date note is also there somewhere in the background.
Somehow it also smells spicy, not too much, but you can smell it, could come from the cardamom.
The combination of dates, toffee and cardamom is slightly reminiscent of liquorice for me.
I hardly notice the smoky note that some people complain about.
Benzoin can sometimes smell slightly smoky, depending on what kind of benzoin is used here, it can smell the way it smells here.

Towards the end I only notice 4 notes, walnut as the most prominent note, toffee, cardamom and benzoin.
Sweet, heavy, slightly salty, spicy and really minimally smoky.

My personal Shaghaf Oud ranking is as follows:

Shaghaf Oud Tonka
Shaghaf Oud Ahmar Eau de Parfum
Shaghaf Oud Azraq Eau de Parfum
Shaghaf Vanilla Toffee
Shaghaf Oud Royale
Shaghaf Oud Abyad
Shaghaf Oud Eau de Parfum
Shaghaf Oud Aswad

It shares 4th place with Shaghaf Oud Royale, which is not bad at all.
You just shouldn't expect the most blatant gourmand fragrance ever and of course you should get a bottling first.
With the reviews, I don't even need to mention that it's not a blind buy candidate.

In terms of performance, I can only say that it can't compete with a Shaghaf Oud Eau de Parfum, a Shaghaf Oud Azraq Eau de Parfum or a Shaghaf Oud Abyad.
It is rather one of the weaker Shaghafs, but the performance is still moderate to good (H&S).

My conclusion: not an easy fragrance.
I find it neither bad nor really good.
For the current price, I would neither buy it nor recommend it.
If it is to be a Shaghaf, then I would prefer the Shaghaf Oud Tonka, which I can only recommend to everyone.

Toffifee's adventures in the chemistry lab - Not every innovation is progress
Dear Swiss Arabian team,

we need to talk. I am a fan. Honestly. A BIG fan, in fact. But this fragrance is like a Toffifee that Dr. Frankenstein himself created in his laboratory - with the best of intentions, of course, but somehow a little experiment took on a life of its own.
At first you think: "Oh yes, delicious! That's definitely Toffifee!". But then this mysterious nutty note sneaks around the corner. Imagine biting into a hazelnut that has just been grown by a chemistry class.
It gets better with time - the synthetic note becomes softer over time and after a while it actually smells almost like a real nut! Once you only smell the fragrance close to your skin, it's actually pleasant!
But that little "burnt incense stick" touch kind of sticks in the back of your mind. It's a bit like an embarrassing moment at a party: even if everyone pretends nothing happened, you just can't forget it.
I admit: yes, this is complaining on a high level. But you've also set the bar very high with absolute top fragrances like Tonka, Azraq and Ahmar, sorry!
Conclusion: Just because you put incense sticks through the caramelizer and throw a handful of nuts behind them doesn't make a toffee scent.

PS: I love you anyway! ️

Overly sweet toffee opening overstays its welcome. Transitions into vanilla-coffee-date blend, but remains cloying. Strong yet fatiguing.

I did a blind-buy, expecting something like Shaghaf Oud Tonka. It is far from it. It should be gourmand, but it's bittersweet. 'nehh'

This hit me in the nose constantly with something sour and bitter. The cardamom was also off-putting and muscled it's way in more over time.
