A stunning harmony of clean and sweet notes
Champaca is one of the few florals that is still a little mysterious to me after all those years in the perfume hobby. I just don't know what exactly it smells like. What I know is that this is a beautiful perfume.
It strikes the perfect balance between a clean, floral fresh-out-the-shower scent and a nutty gourmand. That's quite an uncommon mix, but it really works!
This is a very creamy scent, both the clean and the gourmand side of it have that texture. The white bottle conveys that perfectly.
Surpringly, it starts out more gourmand and turns more floral over time. In the opening I smell toasted hazelnuts and sweet vanilla, but there is already a hint of a floral scented white body cream scent in the background.
The florals aren't easy to pick out because it's such a blended scent. I can smell some magnolia though, and that makes me so happy because I often think magnolia-based perfumes don't portray the flower realistically at all. Freesia and lemon blossom don't stand out to me, but they make sense when you read the notes list. This has a dewy, transparent, fresh kind of floralcy, not sweet and hypnotic like white flowers. I mention that because those are combined with nutty gourmand notes more often.
I'm really impressed. This is the 4th Trussardi Le Vie Milano scent I'm adding to my wishlist. Maybe it will be the first I finally buy because it's a bit harder to find than the others and so good it gives me serious FOMO. Anyways, this line has some gems, I can't recommend it enough.
