Just how I want to smell!

In the beautiful Schlossparfumerie in Stuttgart, you can't miss the lovely sales stand of AJ Arabia and its 5 fragrances... the sixth one is not part of their program. These fragrances cover the entire spectrum of scent directions, from Arabic to slightly exotic compositions (No. 3 with mint and coriander) to simply beautiful and easy-to-wear compositions (No. 1 and 4).
However, I was most captivated by number 1 and it hasn't let me go since. It is simply wonderfully beautiful! I really enjoy breaking down fragrances into their individual components and comparing them with other scents to get a sense of the general fragrance direction. Here, that is very, very difficult, and on the other hand, the overall result is too beautiful to analyze.
Black Collection 1 is the sum of all the beautiful things that come together in a perfume, making it a fantastic whole.
Wonderful soft cinnamon, more unsweetened than overloaded with Christmas or oriental notes, combined with one of my absolute favorite notes, cardamom, is a feast for the senses. Fruity but only subtly sweet, spicy-woody, not a needle forest... but rather warm and cozy! Still, it has an ethereal freshness in the background, slightly green... but somehow exotic. At the same time, the fragrance develops a beautiful creaminess after a short time without immediately making you think of a body lotion. A sandalwood that is in no way inferior to the Mysore sandalwood from Dries van Noten, but without Belgian waffle cream. Each note is so homogeneously integrated that you perceive the fragrance more as a dreamy scent carpet... with which you feel incredibly comfortable and perfectly scented. Yes, it also has a feminine side that speaks to me fully here, as the woody spiciness keeps the fragrance very well balanced.
The longevity is very good; after 8-9 hours, you can still perceive it. In the first 2-3 hours, the sillage is also strong, but it seems impossible to overdo it here!
Unfortunately, there is a small catch; 50ml costs 240€... that really makes me gulp. Recently, someone "kindly" commented under one of my statements about Puredistance M that price discussions are so exhausting, and she is right... price discussions are even exhausting... for the wallet;-)))!

If you're going to stand out, then do it right!

Damn - forgot my suit! As soon as I arrived at the office, I remembered that a professional event was coming up. It had been such a hassle in the morning with the kids that I didn't think about the appointment… Hm. Well, at least I looked somewhat presentable in black pants and a decent shirt. They probably won't throw me out.

Best to take the plunge and stand out in a truly odd way. A Christmas scent in July should do the trick. If I smell seasonally confused, maybe no one will notice that I’m not wearing a tie.

And indeed, I am greeted by an opening like a Christmas fruit platter with a cup of steaming Christmas tea beside it. Cardamom - good. Cinnamon - okay. However, it primarily smells like freshly unwrapped, dried figs. Cozy and Christmas-like, indeed. Within a few minutes, though, the woodiness comes through. A prickling sensation spreads, and I wonder if instead of cypress, thuja was used here. But let's believe that only a small corner was meant to be included in the fragrance.

Upon arriving at the venue, I notice: Aside from the representatives of the organizer, exactly one person is wearing a tie. One guest even had his shirt hanging out, can you believe that…

And exactly one attendee was wearing a Christmas scent, I’m sure of it.

The Christmas impression fades in the third hour, as it has apparently realized it is no longer needed as a distraction. A compact, bitter noble wood note takes the lead. Rose might be involved, a dark red fruity variant, slightly tipsy; similar to what is known from rose-oud fragrances. The lady next to me is sending out interference signals in the form of a jasmine-heavy noble rose scent into my testing environment, but I think I can sufficiently isolate that and stick with my own rose.

Nevertheless, wood continues to play the main role. It has transformed and is gradually taking on a sugary-amber quality. I feel a distant reminder of the sugary cedar from Cedarstorm, but the Arabia is a notch more refined, darker, and warmer than the Panouge.

For now. The soon-to-arrive hint of vanilla signals the end. By noon, after just four to five hours, Roman One is already very weak and softly exhales the mentioned two components: On one hand, sugary-amber-vanilla-dusty wood, on the other, the dark red-wine residue of rose. By the way, it is still noticeable after returning to the office, so it was not merely an olfactory loan from my seat neighbor - ha! In a second test with a nose that was aware of this, something corresponding was already clearly apparent when sniffing the tester.

I find the scent quite decent, but for the price asked, it simply delivers too little - regardless of the unsatisfactory longevity. It works better on clothing, where it gives off an impression comparable to a rose-oud fragrance. Well then.

It was one of those rare moments when you feel both secure and strong at the same time. Not flashy, not overwhelming, but like a quiet companion saying: You are exactly where you need to be, at the right time.

As I left the café, the scent still lingered on my scarf. It was like a memory you take with you-not tangible, but unforgettable.

And so, Widian Black I became for me not a perfume in the classical sense, but a key to a feeling: the blend of warmth, elegance, and that mysterious touch of eternity that sometimes appears right in the middle of everyday life.

Is it already Christmas....

First of all; for me, this is the ideal autumn/winter/Christmas scent.

Mild yet spicy. Not a fragrance that bulldozes its way to my olfactory center, but mild and still intensely oriental.
A wonderful scent.
The owner of the perfumery is also quite something, she sent me a sample of Arabia Black II.
That one is just as beautiful and very pleasant on my skin, just a bit more fruity floral.

But anyone who has already tried No.I will be thrilled.

I really have to think of Christmas trees, gifts, and delicious pastries.

A Floral Oriental

I find the "Black Collection - I | Widian / AJ Arabia" quite pleasant to wear, even though the price really puts me off and it's certainly not a "super fragrance." The longevity on my skin is a strong 12 hours with a successful sillage.

The top note starts off oriental-spicy with aromas of cardamom, saffron, cloves, nutmeg, and allspice. In the heart note, a substantial and sweet rose aroma emerges, accompanied by woody-resinous undertones. I detect rosewood, sandalwood, and cedarwood. The base remains woody and floral. Additionally, it has a fine smoky scent of myrrh, opoponax, and incense. Cypress brings a resinous twist back into the fragrance.

The "Black Collection - I | Widian / AJ Arabia" is really well made, tending to be more feminine but still unisex and designed for the darker season. I thank Nick for the manufacturer sample.
