The one that isn't talked about...
I'm not a big commenter. The first reason is that I unfortunately don't master the German language as well as I would like. That's why I often hold back when it comes to sharing my opinion here on Parfumo. However, I have to make an exception for this fragrance. I am a passionate perfume collector and have an exaggeratedly large amount of various scents for my needs. I would prefer to have less, but collectors know what I mean ;). I can imagine that most collectors feel the same way I do. Over 100 bottles, but only a maximum of a dozen are actually used.
And as strange as it is, the most exquisite or renowned perfumes are by no means the ones I use in my daily life. My collection contains many that I truly love and don't want to part with, yet I know for sure that I will never wear them. Somehow, they just don't fit me or, better said, my lifestyle or mindset. Thus, I usually end up using fresh scents, aquatics. These somehow fit into my (my) everyday life. Among them is Yves Rocher Bois de Gaiac et Genievre. And this fragrance does its job perfectly in the mentioned area for me! And in my opinion, it does this better than some designer perfumes that play in the same league and that I also own. Compared to other similar scents, I personally don't detect any artificiality here. It smells freshly washed, clean, yes even shower-gel-like, but in a positive sense. Not overpowering. I think this can be worn all year round. This fragrance brings good mood to me. The longevity is, in my opinion, around 4 hours, which is sufficient for me. You can always reapply if you want. The 75 ml bottle is sold at a discount price, although for me it has nothing to do with discount. The collection also includes a deodorant that smells exactly like the perfume and is of the same quality.
I think Yves Rocher really makes great fragrances.
So, I wanted to champion this fragrance here, hope I have somewhat succeeded :)
Thank you for reading.

In and out
As a woman, I prefer fresh scents in the warm season. I came across this fragrance through a sample. It arrived on a warm October day. But I can't really warm up to it. Just like with the women's fragrances, it was in and out. Before I could smell the sharp juniper, it was already gone. There was hardly anything to sniff from the guaiac wood either. After half an hour, I could reapply. This scent hardly differs from the other two fragrances in the series. What a shame. Well, if it's 30 degrees in the shade, I guess I'll use it.

just Aqua with Juniper
Juniper is one of my favorite notes in perfumes; this might be because I really enjoy gin and the associated spice constellation: angelica, coriander, sometimes cardamom, nutmeg, ginger, and occasionally even floral additions like wild rose or orange blossom. Strong, clear, refreshing, airy, and truly incomparable. However, pure essential juniper oil is olfactorily not a revelation. Rather sweetish, with a disturbing spicy, almost musty undertone, where other pure essential oils possess significantly more brilliance. One really has to think of medicinal ointments and cold baths, while the fresh aspect, usually derived from eucalyptus or something coniferous, is lacking in solo juniper.
Juniper as the main ingredient in a perfume is therefore rare. This is also true for “Nature - Bois de Gaiac et Genièvre.” Only the name is convoluted. For a mere 25 euros, you get a decent summer scent that does not deny its aquatic parents Cool Water & Co. Central is an accord that evokes indistinct citrus fruits, more herb-bitter grapefruit/lemon than sweet orange (however, it is not the typical dihydromyrcenol-cologne-lavender complex from Cool Water). And it is also not a gin and tonic imitation, as I could imagine it deliciously, but of a different (artificial) nature. But that doesn’t have to be bad, quite the opposite. No pretensions, you won’t stand out on the bus to work in the morning. Nevertheless, “Nature - Bois de Gaiac et Genièvre” possesses with that imaginary dash of juniper an original facet that one almost overlooks at first. The namesake guaiac wood hardly plays a role in my perception, at most as a slightly balsamic background radiation, like drying driftwood on a beach.
Regarding longevity & projection, it should be said that one shouldn’t expect too much here, but what can you complain about? It lasts pleasantly and noticeably on the T-shirt for a summer day, and that is enough for me personally with such an uncomplicated scent. It also works well for refreshing something stale in the collection.

Other interesting scents with juniper:
Acca Kappa: “Muschio Bianco / White Moss (Eau de Cologne)”
Atkinsons: “The Emblematic Collection - 24 Old Bond Street”
Lubin: “Gin Fizz”
Memo: “Irish Leather”
Penhaligon’s: “Juniper Sling”
Creed: “Baies de Genièvre”
Parfums de Nicolaï: “Balle de Match / L'Eau de Sport”

The scent itself isn't bad. It smells slightly aquatic and pleasant. But I can't say the same for the performance.

Unfortunately, the juniper berry can't break through the synthetic guaiac underbrush. Nice summer scent alternative.

Of the three, this one has the nicest fresh top note. Unfortunately, it doesn't last long. After that, the scent becomes more subdued but remains pleasant.

The Nature line is incredibly soothing. Simple progression, simple pyramid. Very fresh and definitely unisex. Real stunners!
