Creamy cherry and vanilla liqueur
As you would expect, you get the cherry straight away in the top note. Not an overly dark, smoky cherry. More like a fruity brandy cherry. The impression may be enhanced by the alcohol ;) Once it fades, the cherry becomes much softer and more creamy. In the top note, I also smell mandarin and something green and woody (patchouli?). Then the vanilla joins in... The top note doesn't last very long and quickly moves on to the drydown. In the drydown, the creamy/sweet vanilla is in the foreground and displaces the cherry that was so dominant at the beginning. All in all, not an overpowering fragrance and certainly a good everyday Black Opium for the coming spring. But not a bad choice for the evening either, especially if you don't want to take any risks. I think you might like this fragrance if you like slightly gourmand scents and vanilla. If you also like a dash of fruit, try Black Opium Over Red. I expected it to be a little darker and heavier. The cherry could have been stronger, but it is apparently not that easy to find a good balance. Nevertheless, the overall package is very harmonious and round and I will certainly wear it often.

A midsummer night's dream in a cherry coat
It is these cozy summer nights that invite us to linger outside in the warm summer air until late in the evening and listen to the sounds of nature. Somewhere amidst the rustling of treetops and the gentle twittering of birds, the sounds of a dark piano grand echo the melody of the Moonlight Sonata into the balmy night. Enchanted and impressive. A fireplace with blazing flames illuminates the steadily increasing twilight, while the fiery wood whispers a cozy crackle into the night. A small, festively dressed party at round tables listens to the wondrous sounds, devoutly and overwhelmed by the delicate music. A dark-haired beauty in a long, dark red satin dress dances closely with her companion to the soft piano notes. Next door, a magnificent cherry tree with majestic deep red cherries invites you to nibble on the delicacies.

After two or three sprays of Over Red, I dared to make an immediate purchase, as I had a lovely voucher from Marionnaud Parfumerie in my handbag, which I received from my fantastic employer for my 50th birthday. So it had to be something right away. I first flirted with Devotion, which I am also very fond of, but decided on this red velvet cherry gourmand. The first spray immediately fascinated me; unlike its predecessors, this version seems sweeter and sweeter to me. The cherry is soft and slightly liqueur-like. Its heart of jasmine, tea and orange blossom is very feminine, with the orange blossom remaining discreetly in the background. The base exudes a light 1001 Nights magic and literally makes me melt away. Gourmand drunk.

The woman in the long dark red satin dress is still dancing with her lover. A summer night for lovers. And for cherry lovers. And gourmand fans. And summer children. And winter children.

There's a hint of happiness in the air, just like summer nights smell.

Spicy cherry winter tea coffee
While strolling around town at the end of last week, I happened to spot a tester in a city perfumery and took the opportunity, as I was quite curious about the cherry.

I only know the original Black Opium, I'm not familiar with the flankers.

I liked what I smelled on the test strip of Black Opium Eau de Parfum Over Red. I liked it so much that I bought a miniature at the souk to take the opportunity to test it on my skin for longer.

On the test strip, the fragrance smells like sweet, creamy cherry liqueur + jasmine to me. You can already compare the cherry with the sweet Amarena cherry from Vicebomb, which I really like. However, the fragrance is different on my skin:

Although the cherry comes through right at the start, the jasmine doesn't make an appearance. Instead, I smell the teen note strongly. I feel like I'm holding my nose in a cup of black tea with a very light cherry aroma. The cherry is also nowhere near as sweet as on the paper strip. The cherry quickly fades into the background and the tea note becomes really spicy for me. Like a winter tea with a clove and orange aroma.

Until the coffee note and vanilla claim their place after around 2 hours. And with power! There is nothing left of the winter tea, coffee and vanilla take over. And from this point on, the fragrance smells like the original Black Opium to me, no difference any more.

The longevity is really okay at around 7 hours. The sillage is also okay, my husband can smell the fragrance when he's standing right next to me.

Overall, it's a solid fragrance, but not the non-plus-ultra for me. Buying the mini was a no-brainer for me, but I won't be buying a large bottle.

Juicy cherry cheesecake with a cup of coffee made from freshly ground coffee beans ️
I was able to attend the big YSL - Black Opium - event in Berlin in January 2024 and got to know and immediately love this fantastic new fragrance.

It was love at first sniff.

It is a sensual, seductive fragrance. The woman who wears this fragrance is mysterious. She is sweet and sexy at the same time. A dangerous combination. That's what makes it so exciting. It immediately makes you want more. It emphasizes the feminine, strong, intense; but also the soft and tender side of the woman, and lets her stand in a mysterious, exclusive light. She radiates self-confidence, depth and calm.

A fragrance that could not have been more multifaceted despite the clear aromas that you can clearly smell.

The juicy cherry in the top note does not leave a pungent fruit note. Rather, the fragrance is reminiscent of a delicious, warm cheesecake paired with lots of cherries, accompanied by a cup of coffee with freshly ground coffee beans.

Once again, a successful masterpiece! Merci ️

Cherry dream with Black Opium DNA
I have tested this fragrance several times and now it is already on my wish list. I have to honestly say that it's a really great new Black Opium. This wonderful sweet cherry definitely comes out at the beginning for me, then more and more coffee and vanilla, I also think I smell some cocoa but maybe my nose is wrong here too. I find it very seductive and sexy, you could also wear it on a date. If you love the Black Opium DNA like I do, then this is the one for you. The longevity is good, the sillage is not as strong as with other fragrances, but it doesn't have to be. I feel totally comfortable with this fragrance and my boyfriend loves it on me. Everyone has to decide for themselves whether they need it in addition to another Black Opium, but I would definitely try it. YSL did a really good job, I'm thrilled!

Cherry and warm instant coffee, then it goes floral (jasmine and a musky neroli) + some candy sweet at the end. Pleasant and versatile.

This fragrance is pleasant; not too sweet or flowery. While I wish the cherry opening stayed longer, I would love this scent on a date.
