My first retail buy in years, and it was an impulse.

This is going to take a slightly different form than my other reviews, simply because I want others to be able to see it asap.

I think this cologne is great, but it's so similar to almost every other YSL Y release that I can't truly justify it. I only bought it because YSL so rarely gets discounted significantly enough to warrant just waiting for it.

I'm currently wearing the pre-reform Y Le Parfum (2021) , and Y Eau de Parfum , along with YSL Y Iced Cologne, and they're all so similar that I think owning more than two is redundant. Yes, there are distinctly differences, but the overall scent profile is exceedingly similar, which I find surprising given the differences in notes. I just happen to love the DNA, which is why I can justify buying multiple.

Is it worth it? Not really. But it's still a great fragrance, just not a necessity if you have other Y flankers.

Nothing unique but great.

My first YSL, after sampling the Y elixir and EDP, none of which spoke to me, I blind bought this one.
And boy am I glad I did!

It's fresh and dark at the same time, smelling like a luxurious shower gel in just the right way.
This will in no way please fragrance snobs, or people who look for unique smells. It's basic and lacking its own identity almost. But it smells great, and lasts forever. Projects like crazy the first 3 hours as well.

First day I had it, I sprayed it on my arm at about 13.50, and went to work. At 23.00 when I got off, I could still smell it through my clothing. And when I woke up the next morning at around 9, I could still smell it on my arm when pressing my nose at it.

All in all, it's nothing new.
But it is a basic, great smelling work horse of a fragrance. Like an old Volvo in the best kind of way.

Bluey on Ice

There is some potentially pleasant mint here, but it's buried under an avalanche of syrupy, synthetic soap. If you tell yourself that they just intended to make a deodorant with the faintest whisper of cool herbs, then it's sort of a success. A million better options out there for a fraction of the price. Uncommonly persistent and tenacious.

This perfume simply smells like a candy ice without any joke. When I first smelled it, I thought to myself, "Wow, this is awesome." In the background, there is of course a bit of mint as described, but you only notice it after a while; in the dry down, it is also very pleasant. I've noticed that women like it too. In my opinion, this year it really stands out; I would give it an eight out of ten. It's a very pleasant scent that I would definitely wear in the summer or even as a daily fragrance.
