Ends completely different from where it begins.

When first sprayed it is ROSE. Like in your face, nothing but pure deep red rose with crystal droplets of honey. As it begins to dry down a beautiful, clean patchouli emerges with hints of fresh basil. In about thirty minutes it dissipates and becomes a softer, less sweet, and spicer version of the original This is Her. I was actually very surprised at how it morphed so closely to the original with where it had started. I wish it staid a strong and honeyed rose but honestly by the time it hits an hour on my skin, I am wishing I had just put on the original to begin with.

This does however layer beautifully with patchouli dominant perfumes, bringing out a sweet and sultry spiciness.

I have yet to use a flanker of This is Her that compares in performance to the original. While This is Really Her does have a beautiful strength in the beginning, it fades away much too quickly leaving a very intimate scent bubble and light creamy skin scent.

She is unexpectedly different!

If this is really her, she hid her true self quite well. By that I mean that this flanker smells completely different to the original and the majority of the other fragrances in the ‘This is Her’ collection.

The most important notes to my nose are rose, honey, patchouli and labdanum. The rose is jammy and rich, the patch stays on the clean side, and the honey doesn't veer into animalic territory. As a whole the scent is sweet, but in a darker way than the rest of the line. Very suitable for fall, winter and nighttime wear.
I was a little concerned about the metallic notes in the heart, but they're subtle. As a whole, this fragrance comes across less metallic than for example some Montales that don't even have metallic notes listed.
The opening feels a little too sharp for my taste, but when everything has settled on the skin, the fragrance becomes quite nice. Even though it's mainly a patch-infused, ambery rose scent, I get the tiniest hint of the familiar Z&V DNA in the drydown. Just a touch of vanilla and roasted chestnut to warm up the scent.

I see why people compare this to Lancôme Oud Bouquet, Swiss Arabian Shaghaf Oud an the likes. This is definitely in the same general direction, even though I don't think it's a dupe of any of them. In the end it doesn't have an oud note, and the gourmand-ish base makes it a little softer and more agreeable. Maybe less opulent and easier to wear.

It's nice that Z&V branched out from their usual formula. All in all I like this scent, but I don't see it filling any gaps in my collection.

Oriental for Beginners

The notes in this fragrance are all wonderfully harmonized. No single one gets a special spotlight.

Basil, pink pepper, rose, and metallic notes are warmly enveloped by honey.
Honey is actually my nemesis, but here it simply belongs in this measure.
I don't explicitly smell chestnut.

For me, the fragrance definitely has an oriental touch. I usually don't like that, but here it is not intrusive but rather suitable for everyday wear and has a slight oriental flair.

It's also nice that the fragrance is not too sweet. It brings a bit of powderiness, in my opinion.

Personally, I don't see it as purely a women's fragrance; I could easily imagine it on men as well.

I am also positively surprised by the longevity and sillage. It accompanies me well for 7 to 8 hours and lasts for days on clothing.

Conclusion for me: just look beyond the plate and be pleasantly surprised :)

Where do I know you from?

I just can’t figure out where I know This Is Really Her! from? The scent felt familiar right from the first spray. It starts off peppery, spicy, and green, and the combination of pepper & basil in the opening is quite a unique feature among designers.
It then moves on to a powdery light rose, chestnut, and metallic notes in the heart. The rose is comparable to the Le Parfum Royal rose, and the metallic note cools down the warm chestnut.
In the drydown, sweet honey joins in, along with the 3 usual suspects that sweeten the scent in the end (vanilla), refine it with woodiness (sandalwood), and ground it (patchouli).
The scent projects quite well and lasts fairly long.
It belongs to the type of fragrance that I initially find really great, but after wearing it for a while, it quickly becomes too much for me.
This was also the case with This Is Her! and "Le Parfum Royal | Elie Saab."
For lovers of peppery scents combined with cool, metallic rose, chestnut, and sweet honey, it’s definitely worth a test.

Clean creamy delight. Like a honey Dove soap with nuts. I would prefer less rose but it' one of the few good roses for me.
