Tested in the perfumery, captivated for hours and convinced to buy: a strong flanker!
So far I haven't had any of the This Is Him! flankers in my collection. I know them all from countless tests, but they've never caught me 100%. So when I got wind of this one, my curiosity was limited accordingly.
Then I went on vacation, walked into a perfumery and saw it, picked it up and thought: there's something about this bottle. I sprayed it on. 10 minutes later, I kept putting my nose to my arm. That didn't change over the course of the day. And then I realized: Burning Love is one of the (few) releases this year that really grabs me.
However, this is not due to the complexity of this fragrance. Niche fans would probably turn their backs on DNA. But it is a refreshing contribution to summer, because everyone can do tart citrus notes. As the German summer is often cooler or at least more humid in the evenings, you also need fragrances for these climatic conditions. And I think this flanker fits the bill perfectly.
It opens sweet and fresh with a mixture of citrus and vanilla notes. Especially in the first hour, it has something unexpected about it, because it is not a pure freshie, it is deeper due to the sweetness. After this hour, the sillage levels off somewhat, but then the sweeter notes take over. Citrus is then only present in the background, but then it becomes creamy sweet, slightly ambery. It is never over the top, always subtle and - when applied correctly - simply wonderfully light for going out on a not-too-hot summer evening.
It's an EdT, so it behaves accordingly. You can smell it for 6-8 hours and then it fades at some point. But for me, that only makes it even more what I think it is: an almost perfect fragrance for (German) summer evenings.
