Mango with a side of funk
When I saw the announcement for this fragrance, I was instantly sold on a durian note in the composition and was intrigued how the brand will pull that off
After a few months of wear, I can surely say that if you look for a realistic mango scent with a decent projection and good longevity, this is your guy. Kinda reminds me of Mango Aoud, but the latter has a more rotten feel to it, in my opinion, whereas Gold Juice is a freshly picked perfectly ripe mango. It also fluctuates between mango and a lactonic peach when highlighted with caramel notes and osmanthus.
As for the durian note, which initially piqued my interest, I can detect it as a combination of an abstract custardy creaminess and sparkles of fried onion. I tasted durian only once in my life and if I recall correctly, that's how it should smell. This onion-custard combo adds a slightly funky note in the composition but is overall not annoying and really interesting.
I also really appreciate that there's no amberwood to be found, yet it still lasts about a day on my skin, with a slightly reduced projection.
