Why does cherry always have to be naughty? Debauched? Indecent? This cherry is upstanding. It’s clear, bright, poppy – a stock photo perfect maraschino. And clean, without feeling medicinal or hand-soapy. Every time I wear this scent a small part of me is transported back to the 90s, bubble bathing in L'Oréal Kids cherry almond shampoo (the one in the fish-shaped bottle). It’s more cherry than Lost Cherry, but lighter on the almond. And more cherry than Cherry Punk, minus the smoke and studded leather. The longest lasting of the three on my skin too, clocking 6+ hours.

Mental Snapshot: Red VW beetle, with plastic eyelashes on the headlights. A heart-shaped lollipop from your kindergarten valentine. Patent leather go-go boots and prescription wayfarers. Comic book word balloons. WOW! YUM! The belle of the boardroom, a c-suite party girl. Did Andy Warhol ever silkscreen a cherry?

Cherry for Cherry Haters

I am a cherry hater. It either reminds me of cough syrup medicine or its so artificially sweet, syrupy, and headache inducing. This toes the line, I could almost fall in love with it. This starts as a juicy cherry with almond. That almond keeps it from being overwhelming, keeps it from just being candy cherry. Then it gets a little lighter and you get the rose, strawberry, and sour cherry. Its still strong and borderline artificial punch flavor candy but not. The dry down is a fluffy vanilla. My dentist also complimented while I was wearing this. She says fragrances usually give her a headache but this wasn't agitating her sensitivities. It lasted about 4 hours on my skin and the projection is good.

Neon cherry candy shampoo

Indecent cherry smells like a mix between a bright red cherry lollipop and a fresh cherry shampoo. Especially the opening feels quite clean, the drydown gets sweeter. Haribo gummy cherries come to my mind. Saffron adds a slightly medicinal, warmer background hum. Rose and almond are here to emphasize the sour and sweet facets of the cherry. I like how they're subtle, but still distinguishable from the cherry. I also enjoy how this cherry really has a sour side and isn't just one-dimensionally sweet.

If you only like very natural smelling fragrances, this might not be for you. There is definitely a synthetic edge to this, which I think is intentional. Imagine a cherry symbol made of neon lights, an inflatable PVC cherry or glittery cherry lipgloss from a transparent palette, and you get the vibe. It's a fun, flirty, not too serious perfume. "Indecent" is a reach. There might be a slight naughty wink to it, but nothing really lewd or dirty. I don't know why BTSO loves cringy names so much. To me, this is like the olfactory equivalent of red, heart-shaped plastic sunglasses. Almost every cherry scent kind of is, but this even more than others. Make of that what you will.

Because I'm sure every cherry fragrance from the last years gets compared to Lost Cherry from time to time, I want to add quickly that I don't find these two very similar. IC is sourer, fresher, colder and less realistic. I do like both, but LC is my favorite cherry of all times, so it's hard to compete with that.

Sharp, bold, sweet cherry, a saffron-laden cousin to Tom Ford Lost Cherry

Sampling Borntostandout Indecent Cherry, a sharp and sweet, rich, somewhat spicy cherry that’s very much reminiscent of Tom Ford Lost Cherry was being a bit more cherry-centric, with a fairly prominent saffron note that plays as spicier and more herbal as opposed to Lost Cherry’s boozy, liqueur, resinous-leaning characteristics. I think the saffron is challenging, but interesting, a slight step down from the majesty that is Lost Cherry but a very welcome cherry entry that I think many will love, certainly adding diversity to a clearly robust and interesting catalogue, and it’s a pleasure to try.

As with the rest of the line, it’s EDP concentration and priced at $210 for 50ml, sold in the US at boutiques like Ministry of Scent. It performs very well, consistent with the high performance of most entries in the house.

Synthetic sweet cherry, extremely overpriced

Very synthetic nauseating "cherry" scent, gross. I had high hopes for this one, I love a good cherry scent, and this is NOT IT!!!!!

I will leave my general impression of the brand here as well, as I have tried two of their discovery sets. All of the scents are incredibly strong and smell very artificial. A lot of them are also very sweet, and many smell the same on the dry-down. Considering the price tag, I honestly do not understand what is the point of this brand. This is strictly my opinion, if you love paying way too much for a synthetic sweet smell, you are free to do so. I will not be exploring this brand further.
