Dirty Rice from Born to Standout conjures a gorgeously lensed photo of aspirational bathtime, a clawfoot tub of opaque opalescent milky bathwater (but not in a Saltburn way; this is more like a meticulously curated, aesthetically pleasing Pinterest board of self-care fantasy photo milky bathwater kind of way) with hundreds of fresh, soft petals floating on the surface. It’s the woody-floral sandalwood bath salts perfuming the water, the sweet, creamy almond musk of soaped skin, and the intimate warmth of steamed air. Your Skin but Better With Rice

This is a good intro for people who are exploring rice fragrances. I've noticed that some people find rice fragrances starchy but this is realistic enough to be able to recognize the note but its not like you were just served a bowl of white rice in a restaurant. This scent opens with a creamy almond with some bitter citrus but it quickly mellows into a creamy rice with a hint of floral. You can pick out that rice, but it isn't overpowering the other notes. The dry down is a close to the skin, musky, light woody scent. Its a polite scent but also can be sensual because it invites your partner to get closer to smell what you are wearing. It doesn't have much projection but it does last on the skin for over 6 hours.

Musky, woody, and rice forward

A creamy, milky, and woody rice fragrance. This is a woody basmati rice scent with fresh peonies and milky notes. This opens with some powdery almond that quickly develops into a powdery basmati rice smell. The rice in here smells similar to uncooked rice and is paired with some milkiness and fresh and clean peonies. The dry is a more woody forward and musky rice scent with a crisp cetalox, dry vetiver and sweet sandalwood. I love how woody of a rice scent this is, and the milkiness is a nice touch. This also only has a mild sweetness to it which works to really highlight that white rice smell. Lovely fragrance

Soft sandalwood and not-so-dirty rice steam

BTSO really is the master of cringe names. There is nothing dirty about this scent and it doesn't need to pretend like there is. On the contrary, this is such a soft and clean fragrance to my nose.

The main note is a light, milky sandalwood. Rice is quite noticeable, too. It's a fluffy rice steam similar to the one in Kenzo Amour, even though the rest of the scent is quite different from this one. I also get a lot of white musk and the lightest touch of cedar, emphasizing the woodsy skin scent vibes. Almond adds a hint of sweet warmth, peony and bergamot contribute some cool freshness to balance it. I especially like how the peony lifts and brightens the scent, it's a great addition to this kind of muted scent profile.

At first I found this boring, but as I got to know it better, it grew on me. Now I think it's a pretty scent for everyday use. If you go in with the expectation of something attention-grabbing or "dirty" (in any sense of the word), you will be disappointed, but if you're looking for a fresh and clean skin scent with a noticeable rice note, this might be just right.

A relaxing fragrance

In the evening, after a day full of emotions and work, all I want to do is relax and enjoy the warmth of a sauna.

Warmed up, wrapped in a white towel, I lie down in bed. A fresh, sweet spa mist wafts around me, light & delicate, milky almond-nutty nuances - like skin- sandalwood and a breeze of bergamot, snuggled up and so fresh and aldehydic-like, that it's almost dirty again...
