Bergamot steel and peppery wood earth!

There's a rumble in the drugstore - especially on the perfume shelves! A "steely" spirit in a bottle! Not quite - because it's not quite that hard after all. The "steel" refers first and foremost to the bright bergamot, which is supported in its brilliance by pepper. The tart, fruity blackcurrant also contributes to this impression. Cool, fresh and - STOP - apple in homeopathic doses - fortunately - mucilage sage is only subliminally recognizable as a small, slightly "animalic" ingredient. Also fortunately!
Instead, fine, green jasmine, a little birch tar and earthy scents peel out of their "steely" shell.
But what would a chypre be without oak moss, patchouli and woods? An unfinished Hallodri, robbed of its power!
Well, they're not missing here! Well embedded among the other fragrances. And a little balsamic too. Balanced despite its rough edges. Not a steel colossus from Rhodes, but a long-lasting and well-radiating "nose food" that is idiosyncratic and independent!

Steel wants to move forward!

I don't know the Aventus.
I bought the Explorer.
The Signature Steel too. Both are on my arm.

While the Explorer is more delicate, the Steel has an aggressive scent. But over time, it suddenly reveals a pineapple flair - the smell that is supposedly attributed to Creed as a unique selling point.
Am I crazy? Or do others of you smell it too?

It does stand out somewhat and - as I said - is not as restrained as the Explorer.
And yet: a clear statement with fresh, fruity components.
This is so different from the woody, earthy notes that I actually prefer.
And yet: energetically clear: this is the (extremely affordable) Signature Steel.

High expectations, small disappointment

First of all, I have to say that Câline has simply set the bar very, very high with the Powerful Black, Intense Gold and Infinite Navy fragrances.

Signature Steel is unfortunately a bad buy for me, which should be bearable given the price.

Initially fresh and fruity, but very quickly reminds me of the typical, cheap eau de toilette from the drugstore.

In my opinion, this fragrance is (unfortunately) one of the few failures of Câline á la Absolute Blue.

For the price-performance ratio, this is all complaining at a high level.

Câline is and remains unbeaten in the price spectrum.

NOT a Creed Aventus clone

Out of spontaneous amazement that the tiny (and otherwise miserably stocked) DM on the outskirts of Vienna had Signature Steel of all things on the Câline shelf, this Cheapie spontaneously landed in my shopping basket today.

I had already tested it last year in a direct comparison with Black Water. At that time, however, La Rive came out on top due to its very successful pineapple note. The Câline did not leave any lasting impression and therefore only received a sober statement. Has anything changed in my opinion of Signature Steel?

Yes and no. Although I still like the Black Water a little better, I immediately realized something today during the comparison test that I had simply overlooked (overlooked?) at the time: Yes, it is a clone. No, it's not an Aventus clone. Because the fragrance profile was copied almost 1:1 from another very well-known Aventus copycat: Explorer!

The similarities are fascinating; not only in terms of fragrance, but also in terms of performance, the two Aventians are like two peas in a pod. Since Explorer was one of my first perfumes and I bought it back then without ever having smelled Aventus, I will always have a special connection with this fragrance. Although I really like the fragrance overall and even prefer the scent profile to the original in some ways, it was ultimately the lack of longevity and rather weak sillage that kept me from buying another (not cheap) bottle. Nice to see that Câline has managed to completely reproduce the feel and performance of Explorer for a 10!

First-class performance

Strong performance from a dupe that in my eyes smells less like Creed aventus and more like Montblanc Explorer. If you know and appreciate the Explorer, you can't go wrong for less than €6

Dupe are always such a thing, but here clear recommendation with me on the skin easy 4 to 6 hours perceptible and that for a fresh fragrance. Really unbelievably good.
