Gets pretty nice towards the end
Many thanks to Nick for the bottling of Oud Sultani: Kelantan :-) I was surprised by the fragrance's progression, as I was rather moderately impressed at the beginning and then became quite happy at the end. The longevity is strong as usual at around 12 hours and the sillage is also successful so far.
The top note has a very animalic scent of castoreum. However, labdanum, prunes and ribwort syrup also resonate here, creating a dark aura. The heart note smells sweet and floral of rose water, iris, blue lotus, violet and jasmine blossom. Oud then joins in at the base, but in a rather pleasant, woody and less disturbing way. It continues to smell sweet, animalic and somewhat balsamic with musk, ambergris and bourbon vanilla.
If you like the Oud Sultani 1975, you might also be happy here, as both fragrances smell quite similar.
