Frenchman Meets Malaysian Jungle Forester
Today I am once again dedicating myself to the sinfully expensive Ensar fragrances. So, the EO Purple Kinam. A release that I have wanted to get my nose on for a long time. This blend of iris, Tonkin musk, Malaysian oud, and other exquisite notes already appealed to me in the description. So, many thanks for the opportunity to test it, Evren:)
The suit-wearing Frenchman flies to the Far East to inform himself about the cultivation of oud. Upon landing, he is overwhelmed by a multitude of spices. He can smell the distillation of oud from afar. When he meets the forester, the perfect symbiosis of French elegance and Oriental charm is created.
For me, the fragrance starts off a bit spicier with an underlying oud note, which I perceive as beautifully tropical and strong. This combination, however, still beautifully carries through the rest of the creation for me. As the fragrance develops into the heart note, you can slowly feel this elegant iris note as well. A slight sweetness also comes through for me. In the drydown, the oud finally kicks in for me in a BIG way. Not animalic, but rather earthy, deep, dark, and powerful. I have rarely experienced such a beautiful and harmonious composition as here.
Purple Kinam also has a decent sillage. With it, you can easily get through a day, but it is not beast-mode. For a more affordable price, this Ensar would move in immediately. So, give it a try if you want to experience French craftsmanship with an oriental touch:)
