Clean barbershop oud
This is a unique scent, both for the house and in general. Heartistry's style is the epitome of the natural chypre. They often feature fruity piney tops over a base built on earthy double-distilled patchouli and vetiver, oakmoss, and clean ferment-free ouds. Because of this, EK Fougere stands out among their compositions.
EK Fougere opens with a burst of refreshing lavender, sage, and green tea, along with some slight juicy citrus. The lavender is most apparent, and lingers well into the heart. This stage is absolutely gorgeous.
Other components fill in more details. There's a sweet spice from the cinnamom and tonka that gives a slight chai tea vibe, but it doesn't overpower the aromatic lavender and herbs.
The base is woody with an almost floral or aquatic feel from the Silani oud used. Sandalwood, rosewood, and cedar keep things light and fresh. Things never veer into dark or earthy territory.
Overall the composition is beautiful. It's light and high in top notes, so it has great sillage and more moderate longevity. It's perfect for going out in spring or summer. I find myself reaching for it often.
