Bête Humaine Liquides Imaginaires 2021

It is not the first time in perfumery I encounter this very first note: the camphor or whatever specific smell of tiger balm like you automatically link to your running nose day.
Take your scarf and handkerchief, dear sick wanderer, this time we go to the forest.You'll get all the pine tree notes you can expect while in the drydown, this freshness vanishes and chesnut with its comforting sweet cosy notes takes place. On my clothes there is a nice smoked scent that I do not detect on my skin.
I never tried any Liquides Imaginaires before. Principally because too expensive for me, but I've been offered this sample and I have to say I really really like it. I even found it at a really really reduced price. So am still considering buying it. But I already have a I have a sneeze opening notes perfume (Attorney for the lost souls from Alkemia) that will last me long so... in the meantime I ordered another sample from liquides imaginaires to try, in my scent profile of the moment (churchy incense atmosphere)

Another Liquides Imaginaires perfume sampled, another absolute banger discovered. This one is named after a human beast and a beautifully crafted website shows you a "Wild" card in what is supposed to be Tarot, but there's actually no such card in Tarot. I know it's a sort of a gimmick, but I find it endearing, and it does describe the scent quite well. And the scent itself...

What a unique and breathtaking composition. It's woody, and slightly spicy. It's green, but not of a fresh kind, more of the earthy kind. The scent is linear, presenting the whole composition consistently throughout wear and easily lasts for at least half a day.

I feel like it's another great example of a perfume that promises a lot and delivers even more. This is exactly what I'm looking for while trying multiple scents: something unusual, unique and masterfully done.

June 2024, I got a sample, and it was this one among 20 samples from multiple brands and scent profiles. It smelled divine, very cozy, close to the skin. I got strong chestnut with multiple types of wood. Like rolling myself in a forest, I felt like a forest creature that had slept cuddled next to an ancient tree.

So I jumped on a deal, 120€ for the 100ml. However, when I sprayed it on, I was a bit underwhelmed. I didn't get the same feeling; it was tougher on the nose, less cozy, less sweet. Maybe I need to let it macerate, or maybe it's just not the right time of the year. So I will set aside my bottle for summertime and try again in autumn.

I’ve never smelled anything quite like Bete Humaine. I found myself going back over and over to try and figure out just what the hell I was smelling. At first, I thought I smelled coffee, but then I realized it was the combo of hazelnut, wood, and cypriol. The scent profile is warm and I think it is best suited to the colder months. I personally love this scent, but I could see it being very polarizing, like Black Afgano by Nasomatto. I don’t think this is a safe blind buy, but it is worth getting a sample of.
