Now I feel sick
Tellus means earth. I would translate Eau arborante as "show-off water." Fortunately, I rarely feel sick from perfume.

Poor Yorick, I knew him. One day he lay down in a puddle and stayed there for half the day. A muddy puddle. He smelled of earth and his aftershave was rotting on his head, while his feet at the other end were stinking up a storm with some foot spray. Definitely a very funny man but now dead, and Hamlet holds his head while declaring that he kissed Yorick often. Now I feel sick.

And I can't keep my arm far enough away from me while writing.

So, quickly: Sillage = too much, longevity = too long. Otherwise, I like patchouli and earth, but here there is also some nauseating floral aftershave mixed in. At least on me. It might smell much better on you. Ugh. I... have to... go wash... quickly.

You can use it instead of an emetic. Easier than sticking your finger down your throat. Unless, of course, it smells much better on you than on me. Also suitable for performances of Hamlet. Otherwise, I can't imagine any use for it. *runs out*

I put the Moni in Ammoniak.
Hello again from the Parfumhaus der imaginären Liköre. Well, what do we have here? This scent is a fairy tale.
At first, you feel like a crow in possession of a thick nut, not quite sure what to do with it.
But suddenly, Ha!, I know this! Virgins and toreros. Infallible. Absolutely. I know what I’m smelling. And lo and behold, the intersection of both perfumes lies, as suspected, in the Indian costus root.
Don’t know it? Never smelled it? Well, let me tell you what it smells like; it probably smells like fart.
Yes, some people are surely getting upset here, especially, and most likely, the perfumer; but then she shouldn’t make such a perfume and should do something with Wolfgang Joop and old leather chairs. And although we’re not that far from leather after all.
Leather is often dyed in India with ammonia, without any special protective measures; please take a sniff of your Louis Vuitton bag for comparison.
And if the scent seems familiar to you and you like it, because studies show we only like what resembles us in all sensory directions, then you’ll find that this fact knows no boundaries.
So, now just imagine a proper shot of musk added,
Boom, done, Tellus - Eau Arborante.
Madame Le Garlantezec, EXACTLY my humor.

A New Hope
The setting sun was already low on the horizon when the last pale light of the day crept unpromisingly through the dirty windshield of his car. It was not a good day for Tellus. One of those ominous days that would have been better off never happening. If only he had behaved differently just this once. Blinded by the sun, his last shred of hope melted away. His deepest wish to turn back time was, of course, denied to him, as there was no way back! What seemed eternal was, at that very moment, already a long-faded past. Farewell is a quiet word!

To recharge and clear his senses, he sought shelter and refuge in the woods. Forests had always been places of inspiration for Tellus. Whenever he felt lost in life, he would go there to ground himself and become one with nature.
He buried his hands deep in the steaming, damp forest floor. The strong aromas rose up, enveloping him in a cloud of comfort. He inhaled in deep, rhythmic breaths, feeling his lungs fill with the earthy air. With each breath, the weight of the departing day lifted a little, and every cell of his troubled soul was embraced by the soft, warming moss of the ground. A hint of sweetly decaying leaves, combined with the deeply rooted mycelium, wafted from the forest, wrapping around him like a protective cloak. From the majestic fir tree before him, dozens of resinous, fragrant droplets oozed from the bark. It was almost as if the tree were shedding tears for him on this sad day. In the evening sun, the countless aromatic pine needles of the tree sparkled, raining down upon Tellus, granting him strength and confidence for a new hope… Everything will be alright!

* * *

Liquides Imaginaires reveals something magnificent here. The creations of the label are not always straightforward, requiring a bit of effort and understanding. Tellus is no different. Those who feel overwhelmed by the harsh and intense opening likely associate it with peaty, moldy earth. All garnished with subtly fungal animalic notes. Extremely authentic, but specific. However, those who allow themselves to be led without prejudice will experience the true beauty and uniqueness of this underrated presence. Thus, Tellus creates a humanizing aura or projection through the entirety of its components, which feels incredibly familiar to us and ultimately springs from our nature.

A heartfelt thank you for the generous sample to Gentilhomme.

Hansel and Gretel…
…got lost in the woods. But when it comes to Tellus, there’s really no talk of "getting lost." Rather, a few other things slowly pass by a rather stationary center, and it only has to do with trees at the lower edge.

It opens with an earthy-sweet start, immediately accompanied by a stinky bite. The patchouli note seems to glow quickly. I detect a hint of cinnamon sweetness, perhaps a pinch of cumin, as something sweaty is involved.

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with costus. The unflattering description in the previous comment suggests that this ingredient is responsible for the undeniable mustiness that brushes against the old-fecal or universal-compost-like scent nearby, which complements and supports the patchouli and holds together throughout the day - a kind of center, indeed. So: nose a few centimeters away from the skin.

And then it becomes clear that the unpleasant part is solely due to the consistently uneven-earthy use of the extended patchouli. It simply has nothing approachable about it. But that is certainly intended, as ultimately the scent impression thrives on the contrast between the musty-earthy patchouli (along with its supporter) and the other elements.

In the afternoon, it becomes just a bit more balsamic and sweet. The patchouli with its attachments remains an unappetizing constant. However, if the molecular emission could be measured, perhaps more change would emerge than I actually perceive, so the center is indeed successful. The idea might be a little overextended by evening when not even an increasing musk addition can seriously dampen the stinky part. A particularly bizarre combination.

I will conclude with a comparison to film music: Even those for films I know well (which applies to only a handful of rather older movies), often leave me with a stale feeling when listened to detached from the screen. They are usually sharply distinguishable from "real classics." Of course, they are meant to accompany and never overshadow the images. That doesn’t change the fact that I find them, so to speak, castrated and, for example, do not want to hear them on the radio.

I feel similarly here. Tellus seems conceptually halved to me, like the olfactory accompaniment to a story that I do not know or recognize. It does not inspire me to come up with one. What a shame. And strangely - the ingredients were actually there.

I thank 0815abc for the sample.

Head Note Shock
A scream: "I am niche." The top note will scare many away. Unusual and not really like a perfume. Earth, quite clearly! Potting soil. Organic soil, with a bit of manure. But soon everything settles down and it seems that especially all the earthy aspects of patchouli have been pushed to the forefront.

It's a shame for me that this earthy impression only lasts a short while, as I could also perfume myself with potting soil. Certainly pleasant for many others, though.

A cuddly patchouli does not await you afterwards, but rather the medicinally robust variant. Grandiose! It smells a bit like iodine ointment, a bit like an old bandage and a doctor's office from 25 years ago, only significantly sweeter and resinous.

The further Tellus - Eau Arborante develops, the more it reminds me of scents I first tested ages ago or reminds me of how I perceived them back then. Memories of Eau Sauvage Parfum and indeed also of Duro come to mind. Both fragrances show hardly any similarities. But what is it that reminds me of them? Do both possibly contain myrrh? Or is it just the unusual deep, warm radiance? Perhaps they are simply associations that arose within me. However, they are important in that I find the scent somewhat familiar, also pleasant and well-wearable over time.

Despite the "deep, warm radiance," Les Liquides Imaginaires does not smell a bit ambery or balsamic. Much more, a leather association could arise, but certainly not new and clean leather. It could rather be the smell of a leather collar that you wore on your skin while rolling around, sweaty, on another body.

For the scent also carries a quite distinct, animalistic note. No, actually more of a "human" one. It smells astonishingly real like human excretions - really even like the most unpleasant ones! This note is not prominent, but rather diffuse. Yet it permeates the entire fragrance.

Only the distinct earthy note fades over time. After that, the scent progression is relatively linear. Patch, leather, resins, and dirt remain in a constant interplay, forming an surprisingly pleasant harmony.

And although I find the scent somehow pleasant, and I like to smell it, I would hardly use it. This is not a scent you simply spray on. It’s not really a perfume. Perhaps a smell for certain moods and moments. But it is not a perfume.
