Hey guys! Yes, I'm still here, and yes I know I haven't written anything lately, but I've just been busier. I'll probably be writing a little less often here for a while, but when I have more time again or have collected enough fragrance samples, I might start posting more regularly again, but probably not until next year (my Christmas blog is definitely coming :D). So, for now, let's talk about the fragrance here:
Well, where should I start? I could complain that you women don't actually like Mugler fragrances, then I'd call you idiots and, well, you know what I mean! d
Well, on the other hand, this is not about an alien fragrance, which you all detest... you idiots!!... but about the Angel range of this brand. You know, the range of fragrances that was quite intense, especially at the beginning with the EDT and EDP, which not everyone necessarily liked because it just smelled so different and unusual. Over the years, I have tried a few Angels, including some good and some less successful fragrances, as it happens.
And when I saw Elixir on the shelf, I thought that I could present a reasonably up-to-date fragrance here again. Of course, I tried the fragrance as soon as the store opened, when there were hardly any customers around, because I still have problems spraying certain women's fragrances on my arm in public. But in the morning it worked, so I took off my awesome Batman shoulder bag (you know I'm a nerd, so I had to mention Batman in a review again after all this time, he he), took off my jacket, rolled up my shirt and sprayed myself. Well, and this is my impression of it now:
The fragrance:
The first thing you notice is that the fragrance does not immediately begin with the typical Angel DNA. The top note, even though it already seems to smell opulent, is even softer here with a slightly fruity-berry sweetness, which comes from the pink pepper, which despite its name does not really smell like pepper and is not related to it.
In any case, you can soon smell the typical sweetness of jasmine, which is pleasantly fragrant.
What I like less is the ylang-ylang, which I don't like in any fragrance. Fortunately, it is only used discreetly here, but it is still a fragrance note that bothers me because, for me personally, it is one of the fragrance notes that I don't like at all...
In the base, the berry-fruity scent has long since disappeared again, now the typical, long-lasting sweet scent notes come in, above all the vanilla, which comes across a little less intensely here than in most other fragrances.
Ylang-ylang can still be smelled. The ylang-ylang initially becomes much more intense in the base, but this does not last so long (lucky :D), so that a little later you can only smell the ylang-ylang to some extent in the background, and the base actually consists almost exclusively of warm fragrance notes such as mainly vanilla.
The sillage and the longevity:
The sillage is quite strong, although there are much stronger Angel fragrances. I don't really have to write anything about the longevity here, as usual the fragrance easily lasts 8-10 hours, even longer on clothing.
The bottle:
The bottle is shaped like the famous Mugler star and looks wonderful and creative. This time it has a dark blue fragrance liquid. The last "prong" of the star on the bottle is again chrome-plated and has the spray head integrated so that no lid is necessary.
All in all, the design has hardly changed, but it doesn't have to, as I personally find the Angel bottles just as wonderfully designed as the Alien bottles.
Conclusion:
Well, I don't think the fragrance is as bad as you might think from the rather average reviews here on Parfumo, but everyone has slightly different tastes. Anyway, this fragrance seems to move a little more away from the original Angel DNA and takes a less spicy, more sweet-gourmand direction. Of course, one flaw that I could mention is the fact that the fragrance smells a little too generic and sweet from the heart note and especially from the base. By that I mean that the way it smells, you already know many fragrances. And without an intense Angel DNA, something is lost here in terms of recognizability, but well, I wouldn't necessarily say that the fragrance is therefore bad, it just perhaps belongs to the somewhat less successful Angel fragrances. Especially for me, because the ylang-ylang just annoys the hell out of me, but even that doesn't last, as the late base only smells sweet.
I think gourmand or sugary-sweet fans could definitely enjoy the fragrance if their expectations are not high enough. You simply have to try it for yourself. And I bet some of you still prefer to test this fragrance rather than the great Alien Goddess or Alien Hypersense (or Alien fragrances in general)... ufff... did I already call you ladies idiots? :DD
In any case, the fragrance is wearable from fall and winter, on warm days such fragrances are really oppressive. I would recommend wearing it in the evening or when going out, a fragrance like this every day at school/university/work might be a bit too exhausting for others :))
Well, that's it from me again, have a nice evening and I hope to write here more often again in the near future, see you then :)
