Agreeable fresh, herbal, woody mix
Confidence for Him, my second sampling of Encounter Scents, is a sort of fresh, herbal, citrus / woody mix with sweet undertones. Its prominent ginger- and lavender-driven sharpness is paired appropriately with grapefruit and lemon over a contrasting bed of tonka, vanilla, resins, and white musk, with a hearty barrier of patchouli, vetiver, and sandalwood.
It’s a harmonious mix, overall, really a sort of year-round-friendly, agreeable, casual mix that I suspect would work best in warmer weather but is robust enough for cooler weather, too. It feels a little informal but well-composed enough to be taken seriously, so I might wear it while relaxing or while out and about on a summer day but it would feel appropriate enough in a more formal setting, even if it wouldn’t be my first choice for such an occasion.
Concentration / pricing are the standard extrait de parfum and $85 for 100ml, reasonably affordable, particularly with a standard 15% (or more) discount.
Overall I quote like this one—I would give Compliment the edge over Confidence so far, but Confidence is quite nice, as well.
