Excellent inspired expression of Lost Cherry
Popped Cherry is the Dua expression inspired by Tom Ford Lost Cherry. It’s a bit more cherry-intensive and sharper, with more bite than the original, while the original is a bit creamier and more resinous. Both have the sensibilities of balsam and tonka, a bit powdery and quite sweet, and overall an intensive, mostly-gourmand, immersive experience. And of course Dua is somewhat more affordable and practically pocket-sized, so convenient. So while it doesn’t mimic the original exactly, Popped Cherry is a welcome variation of a great scent, and a great scent in its own right—my first bottle purchased with the current, slim design with crimping a little under 3 years ago.

Is it too sweet, are you too weak!
So my dear friends,

I have now smelled almost everything that can be found in the designer + niche mainstream, which is somewhat in the public eye! Of course, this includes the entire Tom Ford Private Line. It is definitely worth taking a sniff, in the truest sense of the word! In short, Lost Cherry is amazing, I first smelled it at London Heathrow and thought it was absolutely fantastic! Then I looked at the price and thought, "maybe that’s not necessary after all." Now, after careful consideration (at least 15 hours), I have come to the conclusion that I actually need it! But not for 4€/ml! But there was something else, there’s also Dua... To be honest, I can’t really deal with clones, at least not until that day! I could never get into Alexandria and all the Aventus clones are getting on my nerves! But to get back to the fragrance in question, at some point I thought to myself, why not take the plunge, and I ordered this and another fragrance that completely captivated me, but more on that another time! Well, after 2 weeks of waiting, the bottle finally arrived and I tested it! What this test revealed is now readable in the following section!

Fragrance:
Tom Ford - Lost Cherry starts with... Um, wait a moment, I mean Dua - Popped Cherry... no, honestly, all of you who have had Lost Cherry under your nose, you don’t need to read further, you know how it smells!
For everyone else; it starts with freshly made cherry liqueur, then transitions into wonderful woody notes, with the theme of cherry being detectable throughout! The fragrance is not very multifaceted, but it doesn’t need to be! Anyone who knows the name will know what to expect! And that is indeed what it offers. Just between us, maybe I’m alone in this, but do you know those Nimm-2 candy things, maybe I’m mixing up the name... But this gummy candy that you bit into, it made a little pop, and a small texture flowed out of the gummy in various flavors, including cherry?! That’s pretty much how Popped Cherry smells. The name is really cleverly chosen ;)
In the drydown, it becomes increasingly woody and dark-chocolatey (yes, that term exists and it is different from "chocolatey", at least in my imagination).

Longevity & Sillage:
Well, I don’t need to say much about that, it reminds me of putting together shelves with my dad and how he always used to say at the end... "that holds, that thing"... greetings from Northern Germany at this point! So no one here should complain about lack of staying power, which brings us back to Popped Cherry, if you know what I mean... the folks at Dua apparently have a penchant for wordplay. I recommend depending on the event and environment, 3 to a maximum of 5 sprays, as it doesn’t annoy despite its great performance and sillage, even with significant sweetness!

Wearability:
He, she, it, totally irrelevant! Totally unisex, I would find it great on my girlfriend, I find it great on myself, I would even find it great on my cat... (that’s just said in jest! By the way, be a little careful, at this point, I feel compelled to mention that you should never spray near your pet, it’s not particularly healthy for the animal. Just a side note! Educational mission and all!)

Bottle and Packaging:
Is completely fine for the price! Nothing groundbreaking, but actually quite stylish! The bottle looks really nice, I think!

Price Performance:
So if you compare it with the original, absolutely great! Smells just the same, has what feels like double the performance and smells of quality, even though it is of course relatively synthetic, which should be self-evident for this fragrance direction...
At a price of about 1.6€ per ml with the corresponding coupon and with sufficient 3 sprays to smell great all day long, absolutely top!!
Conclusion:
Are you into the cherry/gourmand fragrance direction and want something that accompanies you all day?
Do you not want to spend too much money on it?
Are you into carnival and have no problem smelling like that?

Then you should quickly order Popped Cherry from Dua! Now! Immediately! Thank me later!

If the CEO of Dua is reading this, greetings, you can gladly transfer the 20% participation per ordered Popped Cherry to my account in the Maldives! See you for a nice cherry liqueur in the Caribbean!

Thank you for reading and for co-financing my next summer vacation!

Yours, Dave :)

I wanted to talk myself out of it.......
yes, that didn't work out.

When I first sniffed this wonderful cherry scent, I was totally thrilled, and yet I wanted to convince myself,,,I don't need this,,,
Why? Because I have too many wonderful fragrances.

But it just doesn't work, because that sweet, delicious, fruity, juicy dark red thick cherry, which you can only buy briefly in summer, but doesn't smell that great, meaning the real cherry, you just can't get out of your head.
No way, no, no, no.

Tom Ford has the Lost Cherry, which is supposed to be very similar to this scent.
However, since I don't know how this cherry from Tom Ford smells, I can't unfortunately compare the two. But I don't even want to test the one from Mr. Ford, because I like this cherry way too much and I can't find a single point of criticism.

So this cherry scent starts off very sweet and juicy from the very beginning, creating a desire for real cherries. (the Pavlov effect)
To put this delicious fruit in your mouth and enjoy the juice and the tasty flesh.

This cherry scent fulfills exactly that desire, remaining linear, meaning it doesn't change much, which I find wonderful.
It is and remains a fruity scent, sweet, and as an Extrait, it lasts for hours, and even the next day, I can still perceive it very well.
Fortunately, it is not darkened by oud or amber, but remains nice, bright, and clear. The bitter almond and roasted tonka bean give the scent a certain depth and persistence.
The Peru balsam also makes it soft and gentle. I can't really smell the jasmine and vetiver, and they might be responsible for the longevity.
I don't perceive it as woody, since wood is not something my nose likes very much. But that can vary greatly from person to person. So, the perception.

Men have to decide for themselves whether they like to wear it; I would enjoy it, but perhaps other women might not. So please ask your partner.

So I must urgently warn anyone who likes sweet and delicious scents; the immediate "must-have" reflex occurs.

The fragrances from Dua Fragrances come from America and are only available in 30 ml bottles. Personally, I find that a pity because I could use a 100 ml bottle.
Additionally, they have to go through customs, and the fees come on top of that.
Nevertheless, you get a great price/performance ratio here, as all Dua scents are Extraits, as far as I know.

This scent that I have from this small manufacturer can be worn without hesitation in summer and winter, so all year round. In summer, apply a little less strongly, otherwise you will be pursued by all sorts of insects. That's not so much fun.
It can also happen that not all Dua scents are available, as they are indeed small productions.
I can't say more, just that I am once again totally thrilled.
Testing is worth it; I give it a straight grade of 1 in all points.

Anyone who also likes sweet and delicious should try the Belgium Choco Truffle; it's also quite wonderful, gourmand.

Is it better than Lost Cherry?!
Honestly: you can't avoid this question when dealing with Popped Cherry. Because it's clear: Lost Cherry by Tom Ford was the inspiration for Popped Cherry.

The concept of fragrance cloning is certainly controversial - but one must give Dua credit: they often do their job really well.
I also think they haven't tried to create a 1:1 clone in this case, but have further developed the fragrance idea.
For those who want to see my comparison between the two: I've linked my YouTube video for you.

Here, however, I would like to provide a few more details about Popped Cherry:
We are dealing with a sweet-fruity fragrance that gains a more mature character from the bitter almond and liqueur note. The cherry smells rather dark to me, but very juicy.
I find that it carries something profound, yet also something cheeky and sassy. It is anything but boring - I like that. Even though the fragrance doesn't change significantly for me over time, it remains in the cherry-almond-liqueur tone.
In my view, it can also be worn very well by men.
By the way, Popped Cherry is my favorite among cherry fragrances.

It performs very well in terms of longevity.
I spray the fragrance on my skin in the morning and can still perceive it very well in the evening.
The sillage is also enormous: I can perceive it well during movements - and it seems to be the same for those around me.
Popped Cherry is one of the fragrances I get approached about most frequently. It is also very well received by those who are not into perfumes. That speaks for the fragrance, as you stand out, but only in a pleasant way :-)

My rating:
Fragrance: 10 / 10
Longevity: 9 / 10
Sillage: 9 / 10
Recognition: 10 / 10

My Cinema Scent
I am an enthusiastic moviegoer (in fact, my first outing after the last lockdown was to the cinema) and I simply love the atmosphere there.

The smell of popcorn (even though I don’t even like it, but it does smell good), the anticipation of diving into a new world, the feeling of doing something special,... Cinema has something magical for me and I look forward to every evening I can spend in a cinema seat.
Of course, I prefer to go to small, nostalgic movie houses with old, plush seats and lots of vintage vibes. But since these often only show selected indie and arthouse films, sometimes it just has to be the action-packed blockbuster, so I regularly find myself at the big cinema chains as well.

Now, before my last cinema visit (by the way, Venom 2, it was okay, good entertainment, but not a masterpiece), I noticed while standing in front of my perfume selection that I automatically reached for Popped Cherry, just like the last few times before.
It seems that the cherry perfume has quietly become my cinema scent.
I can’t quite say why, but the juicy, slightly tart opening with cherry hits me just right and somehow prepares me perfectly for the rollercoaster of emotions I will experience later. Perhaps I unconsciously find this cherry liqueur scent extremely fitting with the smell of popcorn?

In any case, Popped Cherry gives me a sense of security during the movie, something that I, being sensitive, can really use during certain scenes. When everything on the screen is exploding or the world is about to end, its comforting scent of almond and tonka reminds me that this is fiction and I am safely sitting in the cinema (yes, I get so caught up and involved in the story that I sometimes forget that. This also happens to me with books). And I believe that is its secret: It brings me back to reality, gently embraces me, and with the cherry, it remains cheeky and not too boring, thus perfectly enhancing my cinema experience.

Thanks to its excellent longevity and sillage, one spray on my neck is enough for me to perceive it throughout the entire film without feeling like I’m bothering other viewers. Therefore, it will probably accompany me again next time when I’m cheering, suffering, and laughing, and after the film ends, I stumble out of the cinema still dazed from the experience.

I’m looking forward to it.
