Dua, I've only ever observed. With a certain fascination. Especially when it comes to fragrances that have already been discontinued or highly limited, there is a chance here to experience the fragrance again in a similar way and to get to know it. The pricing is also very fair. For a little more than 50€ for 30ml I get a whole bottle, for which I would get about 10ml from Roja. The bottles are not overly chic, there is no packaging. But it didn't really bother me. Especially since the black-silver label really comes across as noble. Practically I also find that the bottles are of course quite robust and with 30ml a travel-size. :)
Now for the fragrance itself.
The Monarch reserves the right to be "inspired by" Roja's oligarch. So he's a Dupe. Period.
Reading Roja's own description of his fragrance, he sees it as "Essence of Success", an unmistakable, unmistakable sign of success that is supposed to embody the ethos of the Russian man.
Exactly these lines have prevented me from even wanting to include Oligarch in the shortlist or even buy it. He just read too much for a mixture of snob and prolet. Loud, pushy, rude. I like edges, but somehow also more on and in gentlemen scents.
Thanks to Dua rehabilitated, if you like, the experienced smell impression now oligarch for me. It is a very successful Cyphre with a quite persistent citric start (approx. 1h), which is structured as soon by light woodiness and brings naturally also the musk aspects (not only in the dry down) to the rounding. Just around (and from) hour two I liked the green aspects, which more and more find their place. Oak moss, green apple and mate are just provided by the juniper with a tangy freshness that I really like here very much. Cedar and amber shine more and more from hour 3 and create a warm, almost balsamic background with the iris, which creates a perfect stage.
So I can warmly recommend the fragrance to every Cyphre fan. He goes to the polo with jeans, like to the suit. He's got an edge without a nuisance. It is fresh and wearable all year round. Sets just now in autumn, when again more darker, warm scents are around us, a certain marker and contrast.
Both The Monarch, and Oligarch, are poorly fitting and perhaps clumsily chosen names. You're not playing with a picture, you're just playing with prejudices. They may be used for marketing, but their names do not create much identification. The Monarch and Oligarch fit well into the round dance of modern metropolitan fragrances, such as Goodman´s, which CubaMike described as "Cyphre - New York Style".
The Monarch, to me, is the viceroy. For oligarch has been the model.
So I can recommend both fragrances to every fan of modern, fresh, contemporary Cyphre.
