Masculine-leaning Unisex Caramel, but Not Exactly Gourmand
Here is the thing, looking at the notes, someone would expect a sweet gourmand scent with a twist because of the oud and the saffron, but isn't as sweet or as gourmand as someone would have expected.

The caramel is there, I can smell it and it's actually very realistic, but the oud and the saffron give a quite strong leathery, metallic note, that is definitely not something that you would want to eat. I found this perfume very interesting, not bad, but it wasn't what I expected either. Many times gourmands tend to be more female-leaning, even when unisex, but this one it's not, the leathery, metallic, and slightly spicy caramel, makes it more masculine, and funnily enough, the most positive reviews I have seen are from men.

Oddly lactonic
I enjoyed this perfume though it wasn't quite what I was expecting.

From the start, I picked up on the caramel, saffron and oud. It had a sweet and resinous smell, but not as sweet as I expected from the caramel. Definitely not cloying (to me) though, especially with the oud helping to balance it. There was also a slightly cold, metallic scent that I would attribute to the saffron.

What I really wasn't expecting was the lactonic quality this perfume had, smelling strikingly similar to Milk (expressive) by Commodity to me. I'm not exactly sure where this came from but, if I had to guess, it would be from the sweetness and creaminess of the caramel and the coldness of the saffron.

It remained this way for the entirety of the wear, overall being relatively linear. After about six or seven hours, the oud and creaminess began to fade, leaving the scent to be predominantly sweet. I didn't pick up on any of the toffee or macaron notes, but that's fine by me. This lasted for about nine hours on me.

Overall, this is another good gourmand from Theodoros. Not necessarily my favorite from them but definitely an interesting experience.

High hopes crushed
I really do not like this fragrance. It smells like an expired toffee syrup poured over batteries. The notes sound amazing but all I’m getting is heavy overpowering liquor smell like smelling baking extract right from the bottle. On my skin it also got very sour. I’m a gourmand lover and had such high hopes that were crushed by this scent. The dry down smells like rotting wood.

Sweet and sharp gourmand, a lot more caramel than oud
Sampling Theodoros Kalotinis Caramel Oud, a 2023 release that’s quite a bit headier than I expect, with a lot of sharpness and sweetness—essentially, quite a bit more caramel than oud, though the full note listing consists of caramel, toffee macaron, oud, and saffron. I like its sweetness but would prefer something a bit deeper, spicier, or provocative based on the name, but still, the fragrance is pleasant, an easygoing-enough gourmand that is not prohibitively heavy or overwrought in any particular way.

Caramel Oud is EDP concentration and is extremely reasonably priced in the current market, $55 for 50ml, and now Luckyscent carries pretty much the entire line, as best I can tell. It performs decently well, also, but is just not nearly as striking or interesting as some other gourmands of the house—namely, Coffee Addict.

Leather and Spice
Caramel Oud is a leather focused fragrance. It opens up front and center with a huge blast of leather, metal and and a kitchen sink spice accord. Is it cumin? Hmmmm. Interesting. It also has a slightly bitter presence at the top. Surprisingly, there is also no OUD permeating in this fragrance. Now, the sweetness peaks in as it dries down. I was expecting a gourmand fragrance but so far this is more masculine leaning with that leathery dominance. It also has a Middle Easternish feel as it settles in. Honestly, this may be challenging for some. So far, it’s a like.

It should actually be called saffron macaron, the sweet caramel comes in a bit later. Oud is hardly noticeable.

Unfortunately, all I smell here is alcoholic fruit liqueur and brown adhesive bandage. Quite an unpleasant combo.

Ripe fruits with a delicious gourmand impression of caramel and toffee. Plus, a lovely, gentle saffron spice. I really like it!

The scent reminds me of caramel rooibos tea. The caramel note is strong at first, but after 10 minutes it fades. Longevity about 4 hours.

Does anyone else smell cherry? Cherry liqueur? Caramel only at the very beginning, the longevity is good, after 2 hours I get clove.

Powerful caramel opening is quite interesting. The progression is hard to assess as it's practically nonexistent. In 10 minutes, from wolf to where are you?
