Unusual but interesting---fruity, spicy, resinsous
My second sampling from Theodoros Kalotinis is 1989, named after the birth year of the creator, with the main notes of patchouli, styrax benzoin absolute, plum, and pink pepper. So it’s fruity, spicy, a little fresh, and a bit of a quirky mix, not quite like anything I’ve smelled before. This is something that probably needs to be sampled to be understood. I’m not sure the parts quite fit for me, but it does somewhat transport me to a relaxed, vacation setting in the summer, even though it’s not a particularly light or fleeting fragrance. The patchouli and styrax give it an herbal quality, as well. It feels midway between something totally unique and classic men’s fragrance.
Like most of the Eau de Parfum collection, 1989 is priced at 45 euros for 50ml, which is great, though the brand is only available through the house site.
