I’m first. I loved to cook from childhood, and I always tried new combinations with spices and food, and more than that, I had a gift(and curse) of very sensitive smell, which can also be “turned off”. Ever since, I look for for interesting products to smell, and funnily enough most of the smells are ok for me, or remind me of something. So it’s hard to find unique and pleasant. Recently found about Imagination and I will sell most of my stuff because this stuff is amazing! What’s your story?
How did you get into fragrances?
Got into it with my first cologne back when I was 10, received as a Christmas present. Not a continuous journey but there were pauses along the way - life happens. Regarding that first gifted cologne, in my family, the boys wanted to smell like their dads and uncles. So they got those perfumes as gifts. That's why I don't have a concept of a perfume being too old or too young for any guy. I don't associate age with perfumes.
Nice! Which ones are you looking to try?
Already as a kid, I loved to smell my mother's perfumes. I remember she let me use a little of her Fidji (1966) Parfum and I loved it, as young as I was. Later, my mother and I would share our love for perfumes and we would both try a lot of scents. And I still love perfumes a lot. I also have good sense of smell, I often can name what people are wearing if it is something I have smelled in the past.
Still, I would be so happy if I would find just one or two perfumes that would do it all for me. L'Air du Temps Eau de Parfum comes very close to that feeling, but there's always that 'Fear Of Missing Out', which is why I probably will keep on trying perfumes
.
I’m 46 years old and I got “into” fragrances since this year. I never really cared for colognes (thought it was more of a thing for women).
I do have a very sensitive smell though and I discovered that I really like breaking down certain smells.
I remember eating at a restaurant once and the guy next to our table had this really terrible perfume. Somehow that got me intrigued so much! I still try to find that one fragrance just to find out what it was that gets me so triggered.
But I’m not only hunting bad smells of course 🙂 Ever since I walked into an Ici Paris shop and tried Dunhill’s "Signature Collection - Indian Sandalwood | Dunhill" I got hooked. I found this website and got even more hooked. There’s a whole world out there to discover now! 😍
Before working at the Suchel Fragancia Company, I was handling cologne bottles and flavoring the talcum powder., which led me to love colognes, soaps and talcum.
During that time, I dedicated myself to making essential Bonabel oils into cologne. We compared the cologne that came from Eastern Europe and in this way a fascinating world of fragrances began.
Iconic Colognes of that time.. Crazy Rain, Hussar, Royal Chypre, Disco-Club.
Beautiful memories.
I got into fragrances when I was 7 years old. I used to go to church with my grandma and the old men would smell really good to me. She took me to buy my first fragrance..... Drakkar Noir Eau de Toilette . I still love that fragrance. I was in second grade smelling like a grown ass man with 2 kids and a mortgage 😂. Needless to say, the girls in 2nd grade were not feeling the lavendery overly masculine choice. Then in high school, I found out about "Curve for Men (Cologne) | Curve / Liz Claiborne" which was the teenage panty dropper at the time and BOD man. Then, get to college and it becomes
Chrome Eau de Toilette,
The One for Men Eau de Toilette,
Acqua di Giò pour Homme Eau de Toilette and
Euphoria Men Eau de Toilette and
Artisan Eau de Toilette . My uncle also introduced me to
L'Eau d'Issey pour Homme Eau de Toilette while I was in college and that became the panty dropper. Then I found out about
Versace pour Homme Eau de Toilette and
Versace Man Eau Fraîche Eau de Toilette . Forgot about fragrances for a few years then....... ENTER
Millésime Impérial and
Green Irish Tweed. The rest is my halfway decent collection today.

Hi @Suchel,
Welcome to the Parfumo community. Out of curiosity, how did that diluting into a cologne work? You would need a formula or some sort to get the ratios right, I suppose.
By the way, the perfumes you referred to are hard to find, but we do have some in our database. Feel free to write a review

Hi Kurai, Thanks you! glad to be here., Sharing knowledge and memories is ideal.
Well, I "we" did it with passion too, and to elaborate it is simple.
Making cologne from those Bonabel essential oils didn't, and, does not require a laboratory
We used empty bottles for the packaging., Eye dropper and ethanol., Cocoa and liquid Paraffin as vegetable oil base. the essential oil 'Bonabel' was mixes depending on the test tube. then, depending on the size of the bottle, we calculated the drops for the milliliters in action.
Pleasant experience in a fun environment.
Those Colognes that I've mentioned were popular at the time., They came from Eastern Europe. the Disco-Club cologne was Bulgarian one, and the Hussar was from Ukrainian SSR .
