Hey guys, greetings and welcome to a new comment from me. I hope you had a pleasant day off today and that you can… well… maybe improve it with a new comment from me :D
Yes, yes, that sounded very self-absorbed and arrogant of me, but hey, I think this is the first time I've written something like that, right? Otherwise, I just complain here or make fun of you or something… phew, I’m terrible… :D
Anyway, today I’m talking about a fragrance from Comptoir Sud Pacifique, specifically Vanilla Banana. Although I really like bananas (both in flavor and scent), I’m approaching this fragrance cautiously, as the last Comptoir scent I tried here (Matin Câlin) was a total disaster with a (for me personally) unbearable scent, which I rated with a score as low as I haven’t in a long time, namely 2.5 points, yuck… I really found the scent *gag-endlessly-gag* !!
Alright, enough rambling. I’ll apply the fragrance and hope for the best, because just because of one totally bad scent or a bad olfactory experience, I’m not giving up here anytime soon. Otherwise, I would have disappeared after the equally dreadful “Tarnish” from Demeter Fragrance Library a long time ago! Yes, yes, you still have me around, probably longer than you’d like :D
So, now onto the fragrance!
The Scent:
It smells like Müllermilch! And as already hinted in the title, it smells like the banana flavor. Yes, you immediately smell bananas, which are more sweet like in Müllermilch or candies with banana flavor, rather than being fruity, but still, the scent is quite nice, especially if you like the smell of bananas. There’s also vanilla, which pairs quite well with the banana.
Shortly after, the fragrance takes on a light, floral-green note; I think this must be the banana leaf. Additionally, I also catch a faint scent of a banana peel in my nose, which has a kind of slightly bitter aroma that you taste when you were to bite into the banana peel (for whatever reason… :D). However, neither the banana peel nor the banana leaf lasts too long, so soon you’re back to just smelling the fruit itself along with vanilla.
Later on, the vanilla becomes significantly stronger and leaves the banana scent a bit behind, which you can still smell fairly well. And there’s not much more to it, as you basically smell mostly just vanilla and banana the whole time, with only vanilla being detectable in the very late base.
The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is moderate and can be smelled at not too long distances, for example when you’re in a small room with others or something like that. The longevity is better; the scent can be detected for over ten hours.
The Bottle:
The bottle is a silver-plated, cylindrical container with a dome-shaped end, on which the cylindrical and chrome-plated cap sits. On the front, there is a shiny blue label with the logo and name. All in all, quite simple and not particularly beautiful.
So, this scent is not as extremely bad as Matin Câlin. Well, it’s actually not bad at all, but rather quite nice. Vanilla Banana may not be a standout, but it smells nice and should appeal to anyone who enjoys gourmand scents and especially banana fragrances.
You could use this fragrance for going out (I think the season doesn’t matter here, as the scent is neither too strong nor too weak), because it has a sweet and powdery scent (and thus even delicious, for example on women’s skin, hmmmm :)) he he, but it’s rather unsuitable for everyday wear. Of course, you should be aware that after a few hours, you will mostly just smell like vanilla, as is often the case with many fragrances that have intense vanilla.
Yep, a test is definitely recommended! And I might eventually venture into the other fragrances from this brand, now that I know not all of them smell really *gag*, oh man oh man… :D
So then, I wish you all a lovely evening, and see you later :)
