Masterful Flankery
This is a masterful reworking of Habit Rouge that has exceeded my expectations, it's simply a 10/10 fragrance!

I love the original HR edt, but there is no denying it can at times feel from another age, and require a particular mood and effort to confidently flaunt its dandy powdered citrus and rose.
Rouge Prive stays true to the original in smell and structure, but does so in a way that makes the wear effortless and imbues confidence, rather than demanding confidence.

Essentially, the hazy powdered filter has been toned down and detailed clarity conferred to the individual notes which gives a modern sheen to the composition.
Additionally, the Guerlinade vanilla has been amplified and aspects of the delicious HR Dress Code included, the leather is slightly amplified and modernized which gives a more masculine edge, and the drydown shines with a crystalline airy clean patchouli, almost boozy spirit vapor like, which made me think STHE. Finally the molecules themselves feel higher quality and have a particular fullness and richness that is just outstanding.

A perfect flanker that in my opinion improves the original.

The best flanker?
Oh how I eagerly embraced the new Habit Rouge - Rouge Prive, and I must say, it has left a profound impression on me. The fragrance opens with an exhilarating burst of bergamot, reminiscent of sun-kissed citrus groves, instantly awakening the senses with its refreshing and invigorating aura. The bergamot plays like an orchestra conductor, setting the stage for the symphony of scents to come.

As the fragrance evolves, the heart notes take center stage, where a beautifully tanned leather accord steals the spotlight. This luxurious leather note exudes a subtle yet captivating sensuality, akin to the allure of a well-worn leather jacket that evokes a sense of confidence and sophistication. It wraps around you like a second skin, adding a distinct character to the composition.

And then, as the hours pass, the recognizable Guerlain vanilla emerges in the base notes, weaving its enchanting spell. This signature note is a masterful blend of sweetness and warmth, like a velvety embrace that envelopes you in a comforting and irresistible aura. It's not cloying but rather harmonizes perfectly with the previous notes, creating a sense of harmonious balance that is a true testament to the artistry of Guerlain perfumers.

Habit Rouge - Rouge Prive, stands out among other flankers with its ability to combine familiar Guerlain DNA with a unique and intriguing twist. The interplay of bergamot, tanned leather, and aformentioned Guerlains famous vanilla is a symphony of harmonious notes, each taking its turn to shine while complementing one another flawlessly. The longevity and sillage are commendable, allowing the fragrance to accompany you throughout the day, making it perfect for special occasions or even daily wear for those who appreciate refined elegance.

A scent for a gentleman
A PRIVATE EDITION DESIGNED AS AN EXCEPTIONAL CUVÉE

I do believe it is slightly too expensive for what it should be, around 100 USD/€/GBP for the 100ml it should be a fair price for such a high quality scent, anything above that is too much.

I do not own the older Habit Rouge versions, but I do not remember such a beautiful and power leather note like in this one, which I like very much. So this bottle will stay into my collection.

I can only speak about it for the few days since I have tried it for the first time and I can say that I like it and I am still impressed by the move of Guerlain to release two Limited Editions in the same time, luckliy for them, both being good.

The Rouge Privé is very special and reminds me right away about a well dressed man, a gentleman if you want .. and this is not the typical lemon/bergamotte strong smell like the Acqua di Parma or the high on Sandalwood like the British direction .. this is very french in my opinion and it´s very original.

I was not the biggest fan of the Habit Rouge before, it gave me too much of an old man vibe .. but now, with this strong high quality leather note added to the mix, it smells stronger on the skin than on my clothes.

This precious Rouge Privé edition is a tribute by Guerlain Perfumers to the first amber fragrance for men, this new opus reinvents its mythical accord of patchouli, vanilla and leather in a more sensual, more intense blend. Notes of tanned leather mingle with the warmth of vanilla and bewitching patchouli to reveal an exceptional interpretation of Habit Rouge.

You can see my enthusiasm more in the video, thank you for watching.

A beautifully recreation of a classic profile scent .
Fantastic, this novelty is so many things at the same time. It's vintage but it's modern, it's heavy but it's fresh, it's bright on one hand but also heavy, dark. One of the most pleasant surprises that I remember since I started collecting about 2 years ago. I'm going to explain my impression, clarifying first that with 2 years of collector I consider myself barely an enthusiast, and as proof of that I confess I never smelled Habit Rouge in its previous versions, clarifying this: it has a clearly classic, vintage, citric output, like a cologne that I imagine it is the classic HR gene. And what I suppose is the novelty is the mixture with leather and vanilla, but above all the exquisite leather that is felt from its opening, rough but also light, present but without letting it take more prominence than the bergamot, orange blossom, ginger. This magnificent composition makes it a versatile perfume in my opinion, which can be used for work in almost all seasons, except for summer, but also for a dinner or night out and elgantly dressed.
It would recommend not to buy blindly, but I would ensure that this is a future classic gem. Its performance does not disappoint, 6 to 8 hours, but the sillage it leaves behind is beastly. I don't usually get "compliments", but the second time I used it, 8 sprays, a colleague felt it before entering my office.
If I had to refer to something I know, it would be Aqua di Parma Leather, with the difference that in the ADP the leather is much rougher and the citrus fruits of the cologne are very much in the background, with HR being more balanced in that aspect.
As the icing on the cake, I paid less than 100 dollars at the exchange rate in Argentina, which seems like a more than reasonable price to me.
Beautiful beatiful parfume. I love him.

Red marble
Disclaimer: I don't know anything about the original Habit Rouge range. I got this bottle through a trade. I traded blindly so I didn't know what to expect either but the notes spoke to me so I took the plunge and I'm glad I did.

Upon spraying you're welcomed with a fresh, kind of alcoholic red-fruity smell. Zingy, spicy, sharp. Like a gentleman's aftershave. Immediately there's this deeper, darker undertone that's so interesting. Call it a leather note, I don't really detect any leather but I guess that's just me. I really don't detect any leather in most perfumes that are designated Leathery. But it's a heavy smell alright, it calls for attention. It radiates authority.

The drydown is my favorite phase. It gets a bit woody. Faintly smelling pencil shavings, and something dusty animalic that reminds me of Le Lion de Chanel far away in the distance. It's not a powdery fragrance by any means but it's as if it all crumbles down into dust and then a breath of air blows it all away and that's it. It's gone. Party's over.

And that's the main gripe I have with this fragrance. It's all over way too soon. Think 4 to 6 hours on skin and it's all over. On my shirt it lasts longer, being able to smell it even the next day. So I'll keep this one probably for the wintery months where you'll spray on clothes more than in summery months. So I'm really surprised to see the high scores it gets on this site. Maybe it's a new formulation? Although I find that hard to believe for such a youngblood.

A phenomenal scent. Close to the original EdT. More rounded, slightly more transparent, higher quality citrus and neroli notes. Excellent.

The greatest bergamot. Lesther base straight away. Then comes a dark vanilla and patchouli, ending metallic-fougère-like.
